(cw: gore, menstruation)

Here's the final batch of pencils! Thank you again for your patience as it took me an extra day to get these finished up.

I also wanted to give a much deserved thanks to my friend Rónán for sensitivity reading + editing the script, and my husband Oscar for help with dialogue + layouts (specifically the scene in Prim's apartment). The emotional beats of this story are informed by my experiences, but I would not have been able to make them land they way I wanted them to without help.

EDIT: I also want to credit this paper by Serena Guarracino. Though I don't necessarily endorse every point made in this essay, it was crucial in informing me on how fat opera singers were and are perceived by their audiences and collaborators. There's a common misconception that anti-fatness was not an extant problem until the 1950s, and that anti-fatness does not and never did exist in the world of opera. (CW for anti-fatness and some intense language surrounding it.)
Though I didn't use it for research for this comic specifically, the section starting on page 61 of this paper by Andrew Brown also discusses the 19th century origins of modern anti-fatness and modern dieting.
This comic is more focused on gender and perception, but not putting any thought into how anti-fatness would affect how someone's gender is both perceived and performed would be disingenuous - and I want to make sure I cite my sources!

That's all for now. I'll be back next week with June's sketchbook, and a batch of inked + lettered pages. I'm not sure how many I'll have finished next week, since I'm trying out a new traditional inking technique, but I'll at least have 5 pages here for you :)

Thanks for reading, as always!
