Changes for 6 Star Patrons (Tier Removal)
Published: July 16th 2022, 7:48:05 am
Howdy again folks, if you had read the last post about removing the 5 star tier you would have seen me mentioning removing the 6 star tier sometime in the near future. Given the volume of rewards that I haven’t been able to even see where to start I figured the best move was to just remove the tier and work backwards on what I have on my long queue. I would have done so earlier but, well, I tend to focus a little bit too much on YCHs to remember to move forward with that, especially as a tired and recently unmedicated dog. But better now than never ^^
What’s happening (this time around)?
- The 6 star tier will be unpublished from the time of posting (this will mean the tier will not be viewable to prospective patrons looking at my page) and on July 30th the 6 star tier will be deleted from my list of tiers (this will mean that current patrons on that tier will have their tier revoked but NOT have their pledge revoked). Any and all owed pieces rewards from July to any month in the past will still be recognized and you can dm me at any point in the future to claim a colored piece from me, same policy as the owed 5 star tier sketches. Tiers 1-4 will remain unchanged.
Why is the 6 star tier being removed?
- Pretty much the same reasoning as to why I took down the 5 star tier. Like sketches, the time, motivation, and energy it takes for me to create a product that I would feel proud to give to a client who’s pledging to me monthly is not worth the $50 that I priced the pledge at, and I don’t feel right suddenly downsizing the quality and detail of rewards if some folks expected more given previous examples. But if I can’t downsize the quality I cannot possibly keep up with my growing queue. Again, while I would love to keep making the more experimental pieces for patrons, it’s just not feasible when my working hours per day seem to be shrinking more and more as I try to find a working medication for my adhd.
What should I do?
- 6 star patrons who still wish to support me without desiring a monthly piece can still pledge to any of my lower tiers. If you don’t want to pledge to me without receiving a monthly sketch reward you can absolutely leave with no ill feelings. If you still wish to support me with $50 a month after July from a lower tier, I believe you can create a custom pledge from the settings of your patreon account and increase the amount from there to however much you desire. (Which I would be very thankful for ^^)
What will happen if I don’t do anything?
- Because Patreon has a policy of not messing with the pledges of other patrons even if a creator deletes a tier, patrons who were originally at the 6 star tier after deletion will be marked as patrons of no tier at a pledge of $50. Most likely this means being automatically booted from the patreon server if you did not manually click the link to join since no tier patrons do not get discord benefits automatically when you link your discord to your patreon account. If you don’t wish to pledge $50 to me with no compensation or official tier I suggest you move to a lower tier or unpledge. Again no ill feelings ^^.
Will there be a replacement tier? / What’s your future plans?
- After July I intend on creating a new 6 star tier without a reward with modified benefits (though expect discounts on commissions and discord benefits too to be a constant), along with rereleasing a modified 5 star tier as well once I finish phasing out tier 6.
- I want to raise the current maximum tier that one can pledge without receiving a drawing as a reward in return, I’ve gotten a couple dms from some folks mentioning that they would love to pledge more to me so I’ll be rereleasing tier 5 and 6 with updated rewards in return (possibly higher discounts on commissions/ychs and higher priority on queue lines). I may also think about having pledges of $100+ where you may commission me without having to wait for queues to finish, but that’s just a thought for now.
I’ll be making another post as a reminder to move down to a lower tier or unpledge in the second half of this month like I did last time, apologies for posting this so late in the month.
