'Of course,' Kaydence thought sourly as she returned from the stacks. 'Why would there be any seats left?'

She'd known she should have left her bag in one, claimed it for herself, but of course she'd assumed things would work out, that she could go fetch the last few things she needed to finish her paper, come back, and still have a place to sit. That, and she wasn't sure she trust to leave any of her things sitting by themselves for that long.

With finals coming up, it had been no surprise to her that the university's library was bustling, and, while she probably could have found a private spot if she'd looked for long enough, she'd decided, instead, to try the local public library, just a couple blocks away. It was brilliant, she thought. Nobody else would have considered that!

As soon as she'd walked in, she'd seen that she was wrong, though she'd held out hope until now. Groaning - silently, not wanting to incur the wrath of the librarians - she glanced down at the books in her arms, debating what to do. She hadn't gotten that far at the school library, having turned around and left before she could. There was always the option of checking them all out, lugging them back to her dorm, but her roommate was moping in her room after breaking up with her boyfriend earlier that week, and Kaydence knew she wouldn't get any work done there.

'Fine,' she told herself. 'I don't need a table!'

She'd seen a few quiet corners as she wandered the building, some of which appeared to be set up for exactly this sort of thing, or for people who liked to sit on the floor and stretch out to read, rather than sitting at a table. Thankfully, the first one of those she remembered the location of was empty, and she plopped herself down, laying the books out beside her, reaching into her bag to pull out her laptop...

"Seriously?" she grumbled out loud, before remembering where she was. "Sorry," she whispered into the empty air around her, although, since there was nobody there to hear that, she doubted anybody cared about her first outburst, either.

It didn't make her any less frustrated, however. She'd forgotten, until she'd opened her computer, that it was on its last legs, battery-wise, and she had intended on charging it as she worked on her paper. She looked around the little nook, thinking, at first, that there was a nice, comfortable rug, and pillows, but no outlets. Moving one of the pillows, she discovered she was both right and wrong. There was an outlet; it had some kind of cover over it, one she wasn't sure she was supposed to remove.

She squirmed in her seat, debating, then, planning to replace it before she left, did her best to pry the cover off. It wouldn't budge, leaving her right back where she'd started. 'Fine,' she thought with a sigh. 'I'll do it old-school.'

It would be better, in the long run. She'd write out her notes here, get her thoughts a little better organized, grab some good quotes and citations, and afterwards, she could put the books back, not have to worry about checking them out, bringing them back after finals, none of that... And everything would be in one convenient location in her notebook, so that, when she was writing her paper, she wouldn't have to flip through a dozen different sources at once.

She did do that for a while, feeling rather silly anytime anybody passed by, saw her sitting there, her blonde hair tied up in ribbons... She hadn't even thought about it that morning, just wanting to get her hair out of her face, assuming everyone else would be so busy studying they wouldn't give her a second glance... Eventually, however, she took a break, doodling mindlessly on her paper as she collected her thoughts, decided what she was going to do next.

And that, of course, was when she heard a voice above her. She looked up, seeing a nice-looking woman who was, she had no doubt, a librarian, holding a glass of milk. "Hello, dear," she smiled. "You've been here a while... I thought you might need a drink."

"Oh," Kaydence blinked, surprised. "A-Am I in the way?"

"No, no," the librarian shook her head, leaning over, looking at her notebook. "I can see you're hard at work." Kaydence blushed. "Why don't you come with me? I have somewhere very nice you can sit and have your milk."

"Umm..." Kaydence surveyed her little nest. Nobody was going to mess with her books, right? And if they saw them there, they wouldn't steal her spot. It might be nice to get up, stretch her legs... And maybe the librarian was going to take her to a real seat. "Okay," she climbed to her feet, grabbing her bag. "Why not?"

"Here you are, Ms. Maria!" the librarian declared. "I found one more for you!"

Kaydence turned bright red as she realized where she was, where she'd been taken, fidgeting in place, not knowing what to do, or say. The librarian didn't seriously think she belonged here, did she?!

"Wonderful!" the other woman, sitting on the floor in front of a group of kids, much younger than Kaydence, said, turning to the embarrassed college girl standing there with the glass of milk she'd been lured here with. "If you sit down, we can get started."

"O-Oh, no," Kaydence shook her head. "I-I don't..."

"It's all right," the librarian who had brought her there told her with a comforting smile. "You'll have fun at story-time, I promise!"

"Are you sure she's big enough to have that cup?" Ms. Maria asked the other librarian pointedly, Kaydence swallowing a whimper of humiliation. They couldn't seriously think she was so young she couldn't be trusted with a glass, could they?!

"She'll be fine," the librarian replied. "She's going to stay back here, away from the books, until she's finished anyway, aren't you?"

Kaydence looked between them, conflicted. She didn't want to be rude, but she wasn't a little kid! She had better things to do than spend her time here, being read picture books! "I-I don't..."

"Would you feel better if you had a sippy cup?" the librarian asked, bending down a bit, the way Kaydence did when she was talking to small children. "I can probably find you one!"

"N-No, I..." Kaydence shook her head again, planning to continue with an explanation that she was going to leave.

"Good girl!" the librarian beamed, patting her on the head. "I knew you could do it! Now, sit down, dear, and listen to your stories!" Kaydence opened her mouth to protest, the woman nodding towards the floor encouragingly. Kaydence could feel the eyes of everyone in the room on her, waiting, probably annoyed at her for taking so long, making such a fuss... It would have been less distracting if she'd just shut up and sat down to begin with. Blushing, she sank to the floor, taking a sip of milk as Ms. Maria began to read.

'This is so stupid,' she thought. 'I have more important things to be doing.'

But, without meaning to, she found herself listening more and more intently, leaning this way and that to try to see the pictures in the book as Ms. Maria showed them off after each page... So rapt, in fact, that she barely noticed when milk began to dribble down her chin, onto her dress, not until she missed her mouth entirely.

She let out a squeal, blushing and staring down at the floor, trying to adjust her dress to hide the wet spot trailing down the front, almost convincing herself she'd pulled it off, despite Ms. Maria inconspicuously tapping a button on her walkie talkie.

A few moments later, the first librarian was back, kneeling beside her. "Why don't we go clean you up?" she suggested quietly, and Kaydence was shocked at how disappointed she was, thinking about missing the end of the book. "Don't worry," the librarian smiled, "I'll get you back in a jiffy! Although..." she waited until she had Kaydence on her feet, guiding her away from the other kids, before she asked, "Just wondering, sweetie... Are you potty trained?"

Kaydence thought she was going to die from the humiliation of that question, too shocked to answer at first. "Y-Yeah!" she exclaimed, earning a quick shush, as if the woman didn't think what she'd said was deserving of a little indignation. "O-Of course!"

As frantic as her stammered answer was, she supposed she couldn't exactly blame the librarian for not buying it. The woman led her down into the basement, to a small room with a washer and dryer, and a large, padded table. "There's no need to be embarrassed," the woman cooed, taking ahold of the hem of Kaydence's dress as the girl stood there, not realizing what was happening. "We know our littlest guests can have accidents sometimes."

But she wasn't one of their littlest guests! She'd seen plenty of littler ones mere moments ago, at story-time! Of course, she'd also been there, at story-time... And she was the only one who had made a mess.

She gasped as, in a flash, her dress was whisked off of her, eyes widening as she looked down at herself, trying to cover her body... And, especially, her now exposed panties, stomach churning at the sight of a small wet spot there. Had some of the spilled milk made it down that far? Or had she been so engrossed in the story that...? No! She shook her head, refusing to believe that. It was milk, that was all.

The librarian cheerfully pulled a load of pillowcases and rugs out of the dryer into a basket, re-loading it with the contents of the washing machine, while Kaydence wiggled, feeling very vulnerable.

"We'll get this all taken care of!" the librarian promised, tossing Kaydence's dress into the washer before the girl could stop her. "Oh, looks like you got some on your shirt, too... That's all right."

In a flash, that was off, too, Kaydence regretting not bothering with a bra this morning - not that her mostly flat chest particularly needed one. She felt so tiny, so childish, standing in front of the librarian... Even before the woman gently pushed the girl's hands away from her panties. "I-I..." Kaydence whimpered, not knowing what to say.

"It's okay," the librarian assured her, sliding them off, too, over Kaydence's shaved crotch, pulling Kaydence's shoes and socks off with them, leaving the girl completely naked. "I have just what you need."

"N-No, I need..." Kaydence started, looking to the washing machine where all of her clothes had gone, as the woman started it up, and she heard water start rushing in, soaking all of them, ensuring it would be some time before she was able to put them back on.

She gulped, glancing down at her naked body, wondering what was going to happen now... Until she turned and saw what the librarian was doing at the padded table. "Wh-What is that for?!"

"It's for you, silly," the woman gave the diaper she'd spread out a pat. "Now, come up here and let me get this on you, dear."

Kaydence wanted to protest, to tell the librarian no, but there wasn't much she could do at this point, nothing else for her to wear, no way for even her to know if she'd had a real accident or not, since her panties were soaked in the washer by now. "I-I don't need a diaper!" she whined, her last resort, one that made her sound all the more like she did, like she was a grumpy little toddler who couldn't accept that she hadn't earned her Pull-Ups yet.

"You'll be okay," the librarian told her, taking her by the hand, guiding her over to what Kaydence now realized was obviously a changing table. "Up you go!" The woman half helped, half lifted the girl up onto the table, and the waiting diaper, and, to Kaydence's horror, in no time at all, she was lotioned, powdered, and taped into a snug, bulky diaper.

The librarian left Kaydence sitting there, poking at her padding in shock, for a moment. "I think we have something that will fit you," she mused out loud, returning with a pink shirt, pulling that over the girl's head. It did fit, and it reached the waistband of her diaper, but not much further.

"Y-You have something else, too, right?" Kaydence squeaked, mind reeling at the fact that she was wearing a diaper at her age, not to mention that it was on display this way, for anyone to see.

"Of course," the woman winked. "I know what a fashionable young lady like you needs!"

What she came back with, however, was not pants, or a skirt... It was another pair of hair ribbons, this one pink, matching the shirt. And, after she'd re-tied Kaydence's hair with them, she took the girl by the hand, helping her down off of the changing table, leading her towards the door.

"I-I can't go out there like this!" Kaydence shook her head, tugging futilely on the hem of her shirt.

"Nobody's going to mind," the librarian told her, the smaller girl's frantic squirming not deterring her in the slightest as she pulled her out the door, up the stairs, and back into the main library. Kaydence cowered closer to her, trying to hide, to keep anyone from seeing her and her big, white diaper, while the woman led her to story-time again.

"There she is!" Ms. Maria smiled at the sight of her, Kaydence turning bright red as she became the center of attention. "Come sit closer to me... It looked like you were having trouble seeing back there!"

Kaydence shook her head, but the other librarian didn't appear to notice, or care, leading her to the front of the group, sitting her down on her padded bottom, resolving not to move, or do anything else, to try to blend into the background and will everybody else to not see her there...

Until she saw what Ms. Maria was doing with the book, the way she was lifting parts of the pages, pulling strings and moving things around... It probably wasn't fair to say she'd never seen anything like it before, since, when she was actually a toddler, she likely had, but she definitely didn't remember any books this cool...

"You can come take a closer look," Ms. Maria told her, Kaydence looking around, sure she must be speaking to somebody else. "Come on," the woman urged.

She was so close, it seemed pointless to stand... And the waddle the diaper gave her was pretty embarrassing anyway. She crept over on her hands and knees, unable to withhold a childish giggle of delight as Ms. Maria tugged on a ribbon in the book, making a cute cartoon animal appear from behind a hidden flap on the page.

She was still there by the end of the book, the pause afterwards making her self-conscious about how she'd been sitting there, padded bottom in the air, enchanted by something made for a two year old. "I-I'll just..." she blushed, trying to scoot away.

"Nonsense," Ms. Maria told her. "Most of our story-time participants only stay for the first couple books anyway... You won't be in the way."

Sure enough, she could see parents and older siblings and babysitters getting the majority of the kids there ready to leave, while Ms. Maria shuffled through the stack of books by her side. That would be nicer, Kaydence thought, not having so many people around... But what was she saying?! She wasn't here to have picture books read to her, she had a paper to work on!

"What do you think about this one?" Ms. Maria asked, Kaydence's eyes widening.

"Whales!" she blushed as she clapped her hands in glee.

"Yes, they are. Good job!" Ms. Maria praised her. "How would you like to be my special helper for this one?" Despite herself, Kaydence nodded, sliding closer as the woman patted the floor next to her invitingly, obediently sitting her diapered bottom on that very spot.

It didn't stay there for long, however. "Can you read this word for me?" Ms. Maria pointed. "You can sound it out if you need to, it's a little long."

"'Seaweed,'" Kaydence read, blushing slightly at the idea that she would have had any trouble with that.

"Very good!" Ms. Maria said, making Kaydence feel proud, no matter how simple the task had been. "Now, watch carefully..."

She turned the page, and the whales appeared to almost jump out of the book, Kaydence squealing in surprise, lifting her bottom as she leaned in closer. "It's a pop-up book!" she exclaimed, as if Ms. Maria, somehow, wasn't aware, the way Kaydence hadn't been expecting it. She'd nearly forgotten those even existed, let alone how cool they could be!

She didn't sit all the way back down until the book was over, Ms. Maria having her read another handful of simple words. She was feeling very happy, very peaceful, although the squish she felt beneath her did take a little of that away. Had she really wet herself?! A quick squirm seemed to confirm it, making her blush, wondering if perhaps she really had peed her pants earlier, too... If she'd earned these diapers.

"What's wrong?" Ms. Maria asked, Kaydence shaking her head, too embarrassed to admit it out loud. "We only do three books, sweetie... But, if you'd like one more..." Kaydence nodded, crawling up into the woman's lap when invited, cuddling up against the librarian as she wrapped her arms around her and started the final book, the college girl hardly noticing as her thumb slipped into her mouth, or her diaper grew warmer between her legs, as the sound of Ms. Maria's voice gently lulled her to sleep...

Her eyes opened with a start, and she was a little disappointed to see she was back in the corner, her books spread out in front of her, in her dress once more. Had it all been a dream? Why in the world would she dream about that?! She blushed, sitting up... And then gasped, lifting up her skirt without thinking, giving herself - and anyone around - a view of the dry diaper underneath.

As she squirmed in place, confused, she saw a shadow fall over her nook, glancing up, hands pulling down the skirt of her dress anxiously, to see the librarian there. "Good, you're up," she said quietly, kneeling down. "I hope you had fun today, dear. Feel free to come by whenever you need a break from your studies. You're welcome at story-time any time."

Kaydence's eyes widened, staring up into the woman's. Wait... Did she know that she wasn't a little girl after all? Had she known all along?! Why had she done all this? And, more importantly, why had Kaydence, who was definitely a grown-up, loved it so much? "I-I might," she admitted, shocked at how much she was already looking forward to it.

"I thought you would," the woman smiled. "But remember... Little girls like you who aren't potty trained have to wear diapers to story-time, don't they?"

Kaydence fidgeted, diaper crinkling beneath her, cheeks red. Going to story-time was already such an immature thing, and having diapers be the price of admission... That should have been enough right there to keep her away from this library for the rest of her time at college. And yet, instead, she felt herself nodding, saying, "Yes, ma'am."

"Good girl," the librarian patted her on the head. "You just come see me whenever you like, and I'll help you out."

"Y-Yes, ma'am," Kaydence repeated, feeling a little light-headed at the realization that she was looking forward to that almost as much as story-time itself.
