Viper Club (18x32)

Setting

Viper Club is not a place for softies. It is definitely the most popular club in this part of the city, but also the most dangerous one. Gang members, drug dealers, heavy party-goers go here to blow off steam by drinking and dancing the night away.

Despite this, or perhaps exactly caused by this, the place is very well run. Management keeps a tight ship, there is quite some security, and staff is well trained.

You can visit here and go wild, but step over the line, and you'll quickly get thrown out the door, or taught some manners in a "different way".

The place is not the most luxurious one and rich corpo's usually choose different clubs to hang out in, but it's clean enough and the music is great.

People with at least some degree of money or influence can hire the private room in the back to discuss business or relax on the more finer drinks. Private dancers are also available, but you can only watch, not touch... in case you need to be reminded in how they teach you some manners around here..

Finally there is the owner's room. Fat, bald guy in a white suit that is still way too big is the owner of this club. Outside of his door is a guy as big as a closet, making sure only those invited by the boss get to enter the room.

The boss seems to almost never leave his office, but a pair of tall, jacked-up men in black suits can often be seen coming and going into his office, probably "running errands" for him.

 

Creating the map

I've been wanting to make another club map for a while, especially since I adopted the new perspective for my maps some months ago. On my previous club maps I received feedback that the place was too open, and would need some walls to enable more tactical and exploratory game play, so I added multiple areas with their own function to allow for this.

The initial inspiration for the map came from looping at real life pictures and floor plans of night clubs. but after the initial block-out I found screenshots from Cyberpunk 2077 and further took that as inspiration.

Initially, the base map was supposed to be blue and purple/pink neon, but seeing that was already the case for my previous 2 club maps I decided to go with hard red, giving the place a more dangerous and aggressive look. The logo on the dance floor and the red neon surrounding it gave me 'Samurai' vibes from the Cyberpunk game. I'll be looking into making a clubhouse or gang hideout for that in the future.

I am personally very happy with the result and hope you will like it too!

I have created this post to ask you for ideas and suggestions on maps you would love to see, please write your suggestions in the comments and I just may pick your idea for the next map! I cannot promise to make all the maps that are suggested, but it would definitely be a great source of ideas and inspiration, and a way to get you involved in the kind of maps I make.

Variants

Day - I imagine this version can be used if you made some kind of deal with the boss on the night before, and you return the day after to come back for your reward or other kind of discussions.
Retro - This was originally the base version of the map, but decided to go with the dark red because it was more different than my previous club maps, and actually the red looks pretty darn badass. I turned the blue and purple/pink as a variant, and named it 'Retro' as it reminded me the usual Vice City kind of colors of the 80's.
Strip club - Version where the whole place is a strip club rather than a place to dance, in the back is a separate entry for the dancers to get backstage where they also have some place to put their things in lockers and get ready to perform.
Rave - Version where the party really goes down - literally. Things are smashed up and the place is being trashed as the crowd goes wild (probably because all the drugs they've taken). Security has totally lost control as even their security booth with control systems has been targeted.
