Hey all! I haven't really updated since the last two polls so here's a quick update. First of all, let's declare this month's winner!
Camile Mendes takes the win, but I'm in a good mood
This month was a close one! Camila Mendes and Maddie Ziegler were incredibly close until the very end, but Camila managed to grab the win by just a single vote. I'm in a good mood though, so I'm willing to say this one was close enough to a tie. That means that both girls will be added to the game's roster eventually.
Quick ramblings
So, where are we at with the game? I did a poll last weekend to let patrons pick between a quick release with some placeholder text or a later release with filled in scenes. I expected the quick release to get 90% of the votes but was shocked that it was the other way around. Over 75% preferred a later release with filled in scenes, so that's what I'm doing.
In terms of mechanics, almost everything is working very well. I coded mechanics for a lot of large parts of the game. Starting new company divisions, interviewing the three managers with potential to add infinite new questions to each interview later on, differing events for each division depending on the day and/or RNG. It's mostly these events that I have to add. This is 90% writing. I already finished the first event for the movie division, which is a script reading where the player gets to choose a script or offer his own movie ideas (similar to MAiH1). I'm now working on the casting, which of course will be a very fun event.
Most of these features will start fairly basic but are built to be expanded upon as time progresses and the game fills in. This is my strategy for the whole game. Almost everything is made to be expandable into almost infinity (or until your browser can't handle any more). I mostly do this through scene selection. Like the sex for example. Say you pick a BJ. The game then starts a list of possible BJ scenes. For now there's usually one or two regular ones that start off this list. The game then checks several things and adds possible scenes to the list. Are you into kinks? It might add a kinky variant. Is your relationship with this girl really good? You might unlock an especially passionate BJ. Is your lover close to orgasm? That just might add another option. Things like that. I can add infinite scenes like this. Then the game picks a random scene from this list of possible ones and presents it to the player.
This expands to many parts of the game. I'm brainstorming on a way to do the same for conversations, which will be a large part of the game eventually (on dates, on the job, at home or in public). I want them to feel dynamic, offering many different options depending on the four relationship stats, the location, the time and more. This will make the game truly dynamic and unique on every playthrough.
I'm overly excited and I wish I could find more time to put into this. I gotta go to work, I'll talk to y'all soon!
