Autumn continues in its weird stoppy-starty way. Since October is my favorite month, I figure I'd usher it in with some pumpkins.

I'm still figuring out watercolors and pumpkins proved more difficult than originally expected.

But by the time I got to the bottom right, I was getting close to what I had in my head.

After it dried I wanted to go back and give those earlier pumpkins a second pass. One of the classes I've been following uses pen and ink to augment their watercolors and I like that look. I also had a vaguely Ralf Stedman vibe in mind when I was imagining these pumpkins. But pen and ink is another skillset that I only vaguely know and I didn't want to get distracted trying to master that.

But I liked the accidental smears I got on this piece when I (accidentally) used a water soluble pen with watercolors.

So this time I did it on purpose and really loved the result. There was also a random splotch from the previous page which kinda looked like an autumn leaf so I added more.

Then I got a little more Stedman with it.

And more.

I'm REALLY happy with this now and am going to try to make it a repeating pattern and put it on redbubble.

I think my next venture will be candy!

Let me know if there are other autumnal/Halloween-y objects that you'd like me to try to paint. I don't think I can manage an inktober- something- every-day thing but I'm going to do as much as I can.
