Hi all,
I was just officially diagnosed with ADHD yesterday, and I’m so happy.
This means I can now pursue medication. For those who don’t know, ADHD executive dysfunction is a deficiency in brain chemicals like dopamine.
Basically what this means is it is hard to “act”, to do things. Even basic things like brushing your teeth. There’s no consistency or reliability. Starting things from excitement is also much easier than putting in the work to finish them.
I thought this kind of thing was laziness and lack of discipline and I felt guilty for a long time about it, especially longer patrons remember I constantly fail my promises.
But it turns out it’s just a brain chemistry issue that’s really easy to treat.
This is why it’s been so hard for me to finish these long animations. It’s a lot of tedious boring detail work which I now understand my brain is trying to actively avoid dealing with because of that deficiency. Whereas you see it’s easy for me to create and render a bunch of smaller ones. It’s not a skill issue, but a follow-through issue.
ADHD stimulants treat this deficiency which basically means my willpower and reliability is going to massively improve. I really hope this means I can revive this 3D animation business and get back to making more frequent content for you.
We’ll see what happens.
