last mardi gras parade!! Rex was this morning and the idea is that you stay up all night partying and end your festivities with this parade before going to bed, but we just got up and came to it to start off our day haha we were a lil bit late but caught the second half of it, caught some great beads and got to see some really beautiful floats!!

HAPPY MARDI GRAS 💛💜💚✨✨✨ this is my first year living in New Orleans, and I've been to a few of the smaller Mardi Gras parades over the past few days (Chewbacchus and Barkus), but yesterday I went to Iris, my first BIG one with multi tiered floats!! it was so much fun!!! I went over to my friends' house first and Alex made us homemade biscuits and gravy for brekky (so incredibly good) and ofc we had some king cake too (tis the season) and Brett made us mimosas, then we set out for Iris! it was so packed but we got a great spot and I had so much fun screaming and jumping and waving my hands around trying to get beads and throwables by the end of the parade we were all heavily laden with beads and sunglasses and headbands and bracelets, and a big tote bag stuffed with all our other treasures we caught (cups, plushies, keychains) apparently I made a faux pa by scavenging the ground for dirty throwables that had been dropped, I thought I had unlocked a great strat but my friends told me it's "bad juju" to pick throwables up off the ground anyways I had a great time, then rushed home to stream and had a great time on stream with you all too!

my vday lingerie finally came in and I just finished up doing a lil photoshoot just in time for stream!! this was such a fun one to shoot, mostly cause I got to eat brownies 🥰🥰🥰 have some previews!

I went to Barkus with Justin yesterday, which is the dog themed Mardi Gras parade 🐶 it was soooo freakin cute the theme was Barbie this year, which I wish I had realized before because I totally wouldve gotten Barbied out for it!!

bout to take a bath and start a new book!! I just finished Severance last night and I absolutely adored it (even if the ending left me incredibly unsatisfied 🥲). Gotta write a review for that for my goodreads! I try to review every book I read but I'm a bit behind I just really loved the writing style and narrator's voice in Severance, I found her so relatable and funny and believable. The story is about the end of the world due to a pandemic (written before COVID but wow do they get a lot of things spot on, when I was initially reading I thought it must have been written after COVID). The story follows a group of 8 survivors (who believe they may very well be the last people on Earth) and their interpersonal drama. It's just so poignant with its commentary on capitalism, consumerism, our increasingly individualistic society and what it's like to live untethered to any family or true home. I found it hit close to home because I often feel disconnected from anyone or anything and nostalgic for a place that doesn't exist, relationships that no longer exist, people that may have never existed. I think first generation immigrants will probably find that the book hits even closer to home than it did for me. Anyways, onto The Martian!!

pics from my first ever Mardi Gras parade on Saturday!! it was a smaller one because we're still early in the Mardi Gras season (still seemed huge to me, but I guess small in comparison to other mardi gras parades), but it was a really cool one!! it was called Chewbacchus and it was Star Wars & sci-fi themed enjoy my blurry bad pics LOLL THERE WERE SO MANY LEIAS IT WAS BEAUTIFUL, I wanted to be trampled to death by the army of Leias I also saw BD1 from the games and I was si excited because I loved Jedi Fallen Order!! thats my main connection to the Star Wars franchise I borrowed a shirt with silver stars on it and galaxy leggings from Cody to attempt to meet the theme it was also SO COLD, so I didn't make it for the whole parade and dipped out early with Justin and another friend to go eat hot dogs in the warmth of Dat Dog 🌭 Cody and some other friends stayed longer cause they're brave and strong 💪

so I know I said I was getting a haircut today, but all the Supercuts were closed because of the weather 😭 (I thought it was just going to be a lil light shower but then it started pouring really hard and apparently there were flood warnings) so no haircut today, but the boba place was open so me & Justin got boba and donuts!! Justin took me to this boba place once before and I had to admit it's better than the boba place I normally went to, so it's my new fav (I signed up for loyalty points today so I'm officially a regular now uwu) last time I got the special that was on the board, the lychee rose cheese tea, but withOUT the cheese foam on top because I thought cheese with a fruity floral tea sounded weird it was sooooooo good, and so was Justin's (the original milk tea) that this time I said you know what, I trust them!!!! give it to me just how it comes, with the weird cheese foam!!! and guess what? IT WAS A MISTAKE CHEESE FOAM ON FRUIT TEA IS JUST AS GROSS AS IT SOUNDS I was so grossed out when I got a big gulp of cheese in my first sip lmao I shouldn't have trusted them 😭😭😭 but luckily the cheese foam floated at the top so I just didnt mix it in and drank the rest out from under it

some before & after edits from my recent holiday photoshoot for those interested in that kind of thing! I wanted to make them warm, cheery and bright mostly what I did was up the exposure, make the midtones and shadows warm, the highlights cool, up the saturation a bit (actually had to turn down the reds because they got too red when I upped the saturation overall), remove some shadow, brighten the eyes, then add sparklies!

I'm back home in New Orleans!! got to see Cody as soon as I landed because she picked me up from the airport (she a sweetie) and filled each other in on our respective holiday drama (although there wasn't really drama, we both had a peaceful Xmas with the exception of my dad actin up a lil but only a mild amount for him) then first thing I did when I got home was a BIGG nap 😴😴😴 I was so tired because I woke up at 5am for my flight and irresponsibly hadn't gone to sleep till 1 or 2am, but it's okay because I made up for it now with a great snooze anyways here's a photodump of some random Xmas pics!! hope you all had a great holiday with minimal drama 💛 can't wait to get back to streaming tomorrow!!!

xmas in Florida photodump!! I flew in to see my family yesterday for the holidays and I'm staying here till the 26th! it's been fun seeing my fam, esp my siblings, and we've had so much good food (including the bananas foster I included the pic of, which is my second favorite kind of dessert ever) we went to a magic show today and I got called up to assist for one of the tricks (even though I was trying to avoid eye contact while he was looking for a "volunteer") all I was asked to do was hold a jacket up while he escaped from some chains behind it (it was probably the least impressive trick out of all the ones he did tbh haha) the show was really fun though, there were a lot of tricks where I was like HOWW, and they themed all their tricks for the holidays and made it snow at the end, super cute the kids (Xander, my brother, and Lucas, my nephew) absolutely loved it we also walked the pier, took Xander & Lucas to a big playground and watched them play, and went to a book store where my dad bought me a bunch of books for Christmas 🥹 I was originally only looking at the sci-fi books because that's usually my favorite, but then the owner of the bookstore came over and started recommending me some books from other genres and I'm an easy sell, I got convinced to get every book he recommended lmao he just made them all sound so good!! I've been dying to get started on some of my new books but it's been nonstop family time till now, just got into bed finally and about to start on Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin my family loves drinking and staying out late, and I've been hangin with them a bit for that then going home early when things start to get a lil messy lmao, I like partying a little but not on their level like when my dad disappears on us and we get a text in the group chat of him licking a stranger's boobs, and his wife seems like she's not having fun anymore, that's my cue to go anyways I'm excited for xmas eve dinner and gift exchange tomorrow! hope you all are having a good holiday se

pics from the holiday dinner I went to with friends last night!! our friends Alex and Brett ended up not being able to come because poor Alex was so sick, and Brett (her husband) came out to drinks with us before dinner but then left to go take Alex to the doctor and stay with her. It was so sad because Alex was the one who planned the whole thing and made the reservations 😭 it ended up being just me, Cody & Justin and we missed them lots, but we ordered them some food to bring to them after the food was SO good, but I fucked up and filled up on the amazing appetizers (cheese plate, pickle plate, brussel sprouts, and chicken "oysters") so I was barely able to eat my actual meal 💀 I had no foresight did you know that "chicken oysters" are a thing that doesn't even involve oysters? apparently they're this little part of the chicken thigh that's considered the best part, and I could definitely see (or taste) why they're such a prized cut ooh and the drinks we had at the bar beforehand were so good too!! me n Cody twinned by both getting the hot buttered rum (so good) also Cody loved the winking Santa mugs so much that she bought one so now we have one at home, which I'm excited about haha overall very fun night, just sad that Alex and Brett couldn't come!
