I'm posting this as a heads up for all my patrons so you don't get caught off guard on future bills!

Here's the complete announcement they sent me:  https://support.patreon.com/hc/en-us/articles/360043054911-New-Sales-Tax-Requirements-effective-July-1st-2020

I've been cracking my head the past hours trying to figure it out, and this is what I got:

Starting this semester, Patreon will be required to pay government sales taxes determined by where you live and the type of sale/reward a creator is offering (early access, digital content, etc).

The tax should probably stay in the cents, a pledge of $1.00 might charge $1.08 for example, and the 8 cents would go directly to them instead of my funds.

I still don't know where my page falls into all this since I live in Brazil and our internet doesn't have many laws, but for now I have to follow this new rule and tag my reward tiers appropriately so they can calculate the tax.

I still have some questions about this and should be emailing them about it soon. I'll update you guys again if needed! I hope this won't hinder the way this website works since it changed my life making work much better.

Stay safe everyone!
