I have been thinking about this change for a long while and I believe now is the time to implement it.
Starting next month the $5 reward tier will decrease to $3
I would have made the change today if not for everyone who has paid their monthly fee and the new people who just joined. So in fairness the $5 tier will retain the rewards until next month when the $3 tier becomes the new reward tier.
And also with the introduction of the $3 tier, I will be removing the $2 tip jar for redundancy. You have always had the option to subscribe with any amount of your choosing, and having the reward tier and a tier that gets you nothing being $1 apart would be ridiculous.
Because I cannot remove tiers until everyone has left it, no new patrons will be able to join the $5 and $2 tier as they will be unlisted. The people in the $5 tier can still get the rewards, but it would be the better price to change to the $3 tier. You can go into your settings at anytime and change it to the $3 tier.
I have a few reasons for this change. My most prominent reason is the fact that I have severe trouble in maintaining a constant workflow. While some days I can bang out some good stuff, a lot of days I struggle with staying productive. I promise a lot of stuff that, when I get down to it, ends up being a coin flip on if I can get it done or not. I've gotten to a point where I don't like announcing any kind of project unless it's already about 80% done. As much as I appreciate the amount of support I get, I have never felt like I make enough for the $5 to feel worth it. I would like to be more productive, I would love to be able to crank out banger after banger at blinding speed. But I often find it difficult to start new projects, often needing a couple days after each project to recharge, with those days sometimes stretching out even longer than I wanted.
I am always grateful that there's a large amount of people who want to support what I make, and the fact that thanks to that support I have little to worry about. But I just don't feel like I've been keeping my end of the bargain.
So I'm lowering the reward price. Even if I do get to the point of the productivity that I'd like to have I'll keep it at this new price. I am hoping this change will help with my anxiety towards all this so I can relax and keep making the art that everyone loves.
