In November, Patreon will forcibly change everyone's membership to a subscription based membership where instead of paying at the beginning of the month you will pay on the day you signed up. But that's not the terrible bit. Apple will now enact a 30% fee if you use the Apple iOS Patreon app.
If you are currently using the App and already have a membership, you will not have to pay the fee. But if you ever unpledge and then come back to my Patreon through this app, you will be charged a 30% fee. So if you pledge through an Apple product, do it through an internet browser and NOT THE APP.
This is absolutely disgusting on Apple's part and I will do my best to make sure everyone knows not to use the app.
I have also considered switching from Patreon to another service like Subscribestar or KoFi. I do not think I'm prepared to make that large of a jump just yet, but I will be looking at other services and weighing the options. If I decide to go down this route I will make a further announcement.
