This story has two major twists. These twists reveal key aspects of a political movement that shook American politics to its core… for a few months in 1932, then faded into shadow… or at least, so it seems. That movement is Technocracy. The word has lost most of its meaning today; you’ve probably heard it in sci-fi or to describe when parliamentary governments choose an economist instead of a bickering party hack to serve as prime minister.
But capital-T, Technocracy is more than just that.
