Dear Samurais,

Hope you like this teaser! We are really close to reaching the goal so I'm very happy :) There's a high chance we will release it for this month!

Tmr I plan to shoot my final look for this month, something to celebrate Chinese new year! I will wear two outfits, a qipao and a bikini look. I got loads of decorations for the set up, I will be trying to put it together today >.<

Chinese New Year was always one of my favorite celebrations since I was a child, so it is very nostalgic to me :) I was thinking about my work a lot lately and my process with it, and I find it more fulfilling when I really have a story around it, may it be my memories and to evoke nostalgia, or a story that I create for the look that I am also interested in (this is more for my OC work, as for cosplay there's already a set look/personality for me to play the role of and I love doing that too!). I think the emotional ties I have in it helps to bring it more alive, makes it a richer piece of work for you to enjoy and be submersed in, so I'm trying to do this as consistently as possible.

I day dream about concepts for different shoots and write pages of  shoot development ideas, have discussion with friends to see what others find appealing and if it is accurate and culturally sensitive when applicable, make mood boards for set design and compile pose references, so I take it very seriously!

I also try to develop myself as a person constantly and my other hobbies and interests, because I find it helps me to stay inspired in my work and to merge knowledge I gain from other fields. One of my biggest fears is to become stagnant, I think it can be an easy trap to fall into when one only focuses on a narrow idea of what one's work is and how to approach it and invests 100% of their energy into only that. Some of you may have heard the term "renaissance man" or "polymath" before, which means someone who is skilled in a wide range of disciplines. Though I am not yet at that level to be dubbed such a title, it has been shown that being learnt in a plethora of subjects will help you to be more skilled and creative in all the things you do. I think this aspect of me, pursuing a variety of interests, has always been vital to my identity, including in my work, that is after all why I made my stage name "Virtual Geisha," as Geishas were known to be skilled in many different fields of performance and artistry and I wanted to showcase that in my work as well.

Love,

your Virtual Geisha
