During their drive to Elena's apartment, the two would have heard something interesting on the radio, a missing heiress who certainly WOULDN'T play a part later in the story, before deciding to trade more information about the case they were on.

Also Elena gave Emily a root beer, which is nice.

However, it would have been at this point where Emily's inability to be taken seriously would have peeked its head up, the older Elena trying to leave the younger woman at her place, only to be shocked into submission by the surprising amount of fire in the pale redhead, who was NOT going to be left out of her own crossover.
