See title. I did something dumb and pulled a muscle in my neck. Poor sleep from that has put me even further behind schedule than usual, and I'm gonna take labor day to finish chapter 39 instead of rushing it out tonight.
But, there's also some good news. So, I’m leaving my full time software job in mid-june. It's been kicking my butt, and the amount of OT/prod support I've been working has made writing regularly quite difficult. I’ve been talking with my company, and we haven’t signed documents yet, but we've got a verbal agreement that I’ll basically be able to work as much or as little as I want on either an hourly or fixed deliverable contract with them afterwards. Turns out they appreciate me and my labor or something. Crazy. Will probably aim to spend ¼ time contracting with them.
Anyway, after I leave, I’m gonna be in Ireland for 3 weeks visiting family, then take the fourth week off. VDGIU will continue to update during that time, but probably at the current one chapter every 2 weeks pace.
After that, I plan to drastically up my writing time from ~5-10 hours a week to 20-40. VDGIU will be moving back to one chapter a week at least, possibly with longer chapters as well, and I’ll be expanding the patreon backlog to 5 or 10 chapters instead of 3. I’ll also be picking one of the three book concepts I’ve been working on and finish/edit/publish it. I’ll probably post the first three chapters of several stories and solicit feedback on which people would be most interested in reading, then finish that one.
The three stories I’m considering are:
The Taker of Tongues -> Imagine if young Batman was too impatient to grow up and master martial arts and instead summoned a demon to exact vengeance and clean up his city.
Seven Stars -> A high fantasy ensemble isekai focusing on what happens when a bunch of modern people with modern morals and medieval fantasy royalty are forced to work with each other in order to avert disaster.
No working title yet -> A worlds collide urban fantasy about how an existing supernatural society handles the sudden emergence of superhumans. Heavily inspired by worm, the dcu, white wolf, and one piece (I just think the bizarre arbitrariness of devil fruit powers is neat ok).
So expect that around August. Whichever one I choose will go on on patreon first, then RR/forum sites for free as I post it, then stub to go on kindle unlimited afterwards. I’ve also been working on a MOBA on the side that I’ll probably start doing devlog streams and videos for.
Anyway, just wanna finish this with I appreciate ya'll putting up with my slower schedule these last few months.
