November Preset: Paris Browns

Dear Patreon community,

this month’s preset was inspired by a recent trip to Paris. Apart from my film cameras that were loaded with B&W film, I had brought along my Lumix GX80 to capture colour photographs. Paris really inspired me to try out a warm brown look to suit it’s European old architecture, or modern concrete buildings.

The look will desaturate most colours in the image only leaving orange and brown tones, which are then enhanced by additional brown and red colouring to achieve this warm look. I think this suits city photographs on overcast days very nicely. Sunny days aren’t a no-go, but do tend to be a bit trickier than cloudy days. Due to the desaturation of most colours, I’m afraid this preset is not ideal for landscapes.

As always the example photos are not one-click results, they are tweaked slightly. I recommend applying the preset and then trying out different white balance values. These were all set a bit warmer at about 5600K - 6000K. Additionally I recommend trying out different settings on the exposure slider to find the best amount of brightness - these examples were mostly darkened a little, e.g. -0,20.
