Hi Tango Fictioneers!

It’s been a great month so far! It looks like the quiet era is over so time for another lengthy post!

I am feeling ambitious and extra motivated so I added two new lofty patron goals. I have also enabled yearly membership to Tango Fiction with a 15% discount for those who want to save a bit with a lump sum payment. I have loads of good stuff I’ve been growing for years coming to fruition so I think a year sub will be a good value and if a few people want to do that it will definitely help me snap up a few models and props I’d like to get in order to construct some good looking scenes in the near term.

I am also adding some lewd bonus art renders to some of the various tiers to incentivize stronger pledges. I know everyone that can help wants to but if you can chip in and get a few extra worthwhile perks in return then that’s a more beneficial exchange for your hard earned money.

So when I can I will try to post some images publicly for all followers of Tango Fiction and then some lewd exclusive pics for patrons, with maybe some extra spicy pics for $5+ patrons. I am happy I now have something I can “give” to crazy (or possibly nice) people that pledge large amounts. Many popular artists tier content so that say $10 patrons get early access to a comic strip before the general patron audience by a week and then after say six months or a year or something they become public. This way everyone gets something extra, it’s more or less fair, and more funding is raised leading to more content in a nice loop. I’d prefer not to tier access but if doing so means being able to do a lot more for everyone then that’s not a bad outcome. Maybe after I release a few companion comics I can finally buy that pair of hummingbird jeans I’ve been dreaming of.

It’s frustrating that the patron count has been flat over the past year but I realize that’s entirely my own fault. I know I can communicate better and make more frequent posts. That said, a lot of that quiet time was necessary for me to work on loads of stories at once. You guys know I have to follow the hummingbird spirit wherever it leads me - that’s the way I produce the highest word count but flowers don’t get sucked in order! (lol). There are never enough hours in a day to do everything I want.  I’ve tried to strike a balance between writing a hundred endings and fleshing out a game with enough high quality edited media to make the story extra engaging. I came this far with your help and I am quite proud of how the project has matured considering how modest our resources have been. All of that hard work and generosity has led to the construction of a hugely ambitious interactive story even if I didn’t manage a full release every single month the last year or so. All I can do now to motivate my readers is to provide you with consistent high quality releases (and a few perks) while doing what I can to grow as a developer.

So I am really excited that the fickle winds of the internet have returned to bless my wings. A lot of things have clicked lately. The patron growth is also way above average. I think this means I am on the right track so I will run-er, fly with it!

After a lot more messing around on the 3D front I came to an answer for a question I kept asking myself for a long time: what do I do with all these ideas that are generally too small to be a game and don’t fit into the other big projects? At best they could be “kinetic” novels, ie visual novels with 1 linear story. But now, with a bit more experience, I think 3D is the answer that should allow me to produce a lot more finished projects. Some of these rogue ideas will indeed become Renpy or twine kinetic novels or limited choice vns. Other short ideas will be turned into promos and 1 off comics with a host of different characters and themes.

So this should mean more content for everyone! The past week has been really exciting, I’ve been like “I can do this now! I can do this other thing too! I think I might be able to reuse this! This model fits xxx! If I edit this model I can probably do this scene justice…” I feel like I’ve unlocked the other half of Tango Fiction.

Does this mean I am going to produce a lot more 3d content? Yes but most of it will be Transfigure focused at first so I think it will enhance, not detract from the main game. The response seems very positive to the 3D direction. There is a clear theme I noticed on Patreon which is essentially great artist = great money but great writer is ranked much lower.  I think all of us are waiting for games with amazing writing and amazing art. People are mostly visual though. I get it. You have all helped me build up a vast amount of written content and ideas with your patronage so that’s in theory going to bear a lot of fruit over the next year or two. 3D expression will probably allow more people to see the content itself and for the content to be produced at a faster rate than it otherwise would have been.

For example I wrote an adult science fiction story that is pretty advanced in terms of progress. I think it’s good but I have no idea what to do with it. It just sits there waiting for me to have enough time to edit it into a final draft. Do I release it as is, as a story? Do I put it in Twine or RenPy in order to throw it on TFGS? Do I add a few more ends or branches to expand it? I’m trying to not go all spaghetti with a million incomplete routes and do more focused projects. So this is why I decided 1 offs like the story I am referencing would be better suited to a 3D comic strip format. Tell the story with pictures. Do the renders. Then even people who send me hate mail about Transfigure having either too many or too few words could just use their eyeballs to appreciate some babes and clever quips and a sexy set up.

The next Transfigure update should be out in the second half of the month.

Thank you for supporting the art of small creators! The world is a richer place because of you.
