4 major updates in under 3 weeks

It has been less than 3 weeks since our last update when we introduced the advanced search in the form of Custom Rankings. We've got an update to that and three other major updates for you already!

As discussed last time, results from the custom ranking search might not have been what users expected when adding lots of tags at once, since all tags must match each game. Now, if you add two or more tags to include, the option appears to switch modes between all tags and any tag. In the new any tag mode, adding more tags widens the search instead of narrowing it.

Games like this

The most exciting new feature, and poster for this month's update, is automated game recommendations that we've titled, games like this. Whenever you view any Club 250 game details page, you will now find similar games recommended to you in the left sidebar that are similar to the current game you're viewing. Some newer games are currently missing from the recommendations engine but we're working on updating it for full coverage in the next few days. We still encourage you to check it out now and feed back.

All tags ranked

Previously, we only generated rankings for the most popular tags, however you can now access all tags on Club 250, either via the new Steam Tag Directory or from the tags on any game details page. The tag directory is a work in progress that will be refined to be more user-friendly with searching, sorting and filtering tools in future.

As the number of generated tag rankings on Steam 250 has grown very large over the last few years, we will look to reduce the number of tags there in lieu of links to the Club 250 pages instead, which will speed up Steam 250 updates. At the same time, we will be adding more links to the new tag pages across both sites.

And now, for the first time ever, browse all 40,000 games of the Complete Steam Top 250, now with full pagination! Currently, the only link to this page is from the "current" badge on any game details page, but we will be adding more links around the site in the coming days as we rework some of the navigation to make this, and other new features, easier to find.
