  • I get to sit on this one for a full week while I look for reasons to edit it before it goes live.
  • This might be my most context-heavy video ever(?) The actual recipe is just "Take a shot of liquid A and shake it with a shot of liquid B", but most of this video is actually about explaining the stories behind each constituent part of the drink's name.
  • I don't think I'll ever make a video solely dedicated to espresso. Everyone has their own idea of what a perfect morning routine looks like, and so the perfect morning espresso ritual is different for everybody. My cheap tamper, for example, is calibrated in a way that makes it deliver the exact same amount o pressure every time. I'm sure some people prefer to measure that pressure by their own sense of intuition. Also, like all advice, my personal espresso choices are informed by the autobiographical fact that a very nice coffee man sent me a very nice grinder as a gift. It's hard to imagine another coffee-lover pairing a (relatively) low-end Breville machine with a high-end Niche grinder
  • I don't really understand why so many people keep ordering espresso martinis at bars that don't even have an espresso machine. I've also never ordered one in public, partially because it feels like asking a bartender to pull a bunch of espresso before mixing a round of drinks effectively quadruples their short-term workload, necessitating a massive tip.
  • The "everyone wants me to make them one" part is true, but the untold part of that story is "everyone still calls it an espresso martini no matter how many times I explain why it's not that". 75% of these have been made at the request of "can you make me another one of those espresso martinis?"
