  • I kept asking if it would be weird to put an ad at the end of a fire safety video and people kept answering "no". The reason I still didn't add one is that not having to wait for approval means I can post this immediately. This won't be an early access where patrons can enjoy exclusivity for several days. My subscribers need to hear this message!
  • Big box hardware stores sell fire extinguishers. Yes, you can buy them on Amazon and wait two days, but if you can go buy one today in-person you won't have to wait (and it'll probably be a little cheaper)
  • The consumer-grade extinguishers are meant to be discarded once used, even if you only spray a tiny amount. The pro-grade models I briefly mentioned can be recharged and re-pressurized. Naturally, they're more expensive, but they're also usually much bigger and heavier so it's hard to recommend them to a first-time buyer whose priority should be focused on quickly protecting their home.
  • Whenever I'm about to perform any cooking technique that's somewhat dangerous, I move the extinguisher from the corner to my kitchen island. To me it makes sense to be extra-prepared to move quickly, but if anyone else is nearby, the extinguisher's presence does start to make them very nervous.
  • The silver class K extinguishers are described in a way that makes them sound perfect for your kitchen, but those are filled with foam that's been designed for putting out oil fires specifically. Since oil is just one thing in your home kitchen that might combust (along with paper towels and cheap toasters) class K extinguishers are better suited for big commercial kitchens.
