I'm sitting on my floor. A floor in Missoula, Montana. I've been here for most of the day trying to plot out the future, even just the next week. It's difficult. There are lots of variables and considerations. You're one of them.
My thinking is that I take the Sexplanations RV south again through Idaho, Nevada, and Southern California to cross the border into Tijuana and finish my migration home to Baja California Sur where I live now. Sexplanations will stop permanently or temporarily at least in the form it is now by the end of 2021. I'll wrap up for my 40th birthday on the 24th of November and then post one more episode after that to say good-bye-for-now. There will be more information about Patreon etc. then.
Do I want it all to stop? No. It seems silly to shut down the school because the teacher needs to leave but I also don't have it in me to find a new host or run the show. If any of you do, let me know.
Tentatively I'd like to see how I feel as things continue to wind down. Does it feel right? Does it feel too soon? Am I missing something? And then I've considered two main directions. One, is to invite the public to make sex education content and offer to post it on the channel if it ripe (well-researched, helpful, and true). The second is to make everything Sexplanations part of Creative Commons, open it to the world to use the images and thoughts and content to make more images and thoughts and content. Maybe someone from Brazil dubs over my voice and creates a Portuguese version of the channel. Maybe someone splices episodes to make TikToks or Instagram stories. It could be amazing. It could be all sorts of education!!! But I don't know yet and I certainly like your input as a guide for whether or not I'm way off.
Anyway, if you'd like to catch me and or the RV on my route south I'm going through Salt Lake City, Vegas, and San Diego. September 30ish to the 4thish.
If you have new ideas about the future of the channel or feedback on my updates, pleaseeeee share.
There's still more for us to chat about but it feels important to start with this.
Curious,
Lindsey
