Oh my goodness!!! We're so close to $5,000! <p>"$5,000, Lindsey? Didn't we already reach the $6,000 goal?"<br></p><br><p>We did, friend! Sexplanations has done really well on Patreon. Other channels reach out so get my advice and Patreon, the company, invited me to a party in California when I was there for Vidcon to consult with them on their app and customer service. We reached $6,000 almost a year ago when we launched our Patreon page because that's how awesome our fans are! Just incredible! I made a video about porn and one on hormones with Lollipop the skunk. It was all very exciting. </p><br><p>The reason we're not there now is two-fold. Lots of people helped initially with the big push at the beginning because Patreon matched every dollar given. They were one-time or limited -time donors. There's an exit survey that Patreon offers Patreons when they stop pledging and our results show that almost 99% of them stop contributing because "My financial situation changed." </p><br><p>We aren't always able to help with the projects we care about. It is nice to know that most people want to support our channel even though they can't. So that's one reason. The other reason that we were at $6,000 but are slowly and excitedly climbing back to $5,400 is because Patreon changed how it displays the numbers. Before they showed how much the channel had raised including the cuts that they would take for administrative services. Sexplanations raised $6,000 but a fair chunk of that went to Patreon. </p><br><p>Now the number you see is the amount we get. It covers a lot of the costs associated with the almost full-time work of me and Matthew. YouTube ad revenue is low for sex ed channels so help on Patreon is especially valuable to us! We're able to cover our expenses and pay ourselves. After a few years of doing it for very little, this is such a nice gift!</p><br><p>Reaching $5,000, $5,400, any futures goals is a big deal and makes me feel super supported as a sex educator! Many thanks!!! So much gratitude!!! </p>
