JULY 31 SEX TIP: Recently I was interviewed for a podcast in which I had some say over what I was asked. So I suggested questions that delineated between Lindsey the public persona and Lindsey everything else. I included a question to plug Patreon, one about what I’d do with unlimited funding, and then the “who inspires you?” question. And then I asked to be asked “How’s your sex life?” At the time I was thinking about questions, the ones that I’m so often the interviewer for and inquiring about sex lives is at the core of what I do. 1) because in session I need to know in order to help my clients and 2) because it isn’t asked often enough to kind of let sex just be another part of us that breathe out in the open rather than behind closed closet doors. Then, I remembered the publicity of my response and shrugged. If a sexologist can’t be forthcoming about her sex life then... As the days before the interview approached I found myself paying extra special attention to my sex life. Was I masturbating, giving adequate time for arousal, communicating my needs, nurturing my hygiene, cheering for my partner, having great sex? The awareness about my interview unlocked some awareness of my sexuality! Which is all to say that your sex tip is to behave in mind and body in your sex life as if you’re going to be asked to give a public statement about it.
