Hello, my darlings! Here is the script preview for the next audio :) This one is a tiny bit different, as the speaker doesn’t fully address the listener directly until a few paragraphs in, due to exposition purposes. I’m hoping that this will be a smooth transition in the actual audio :D
The character the speaker addresses at the beginning is a bartender who also happens to be one of the speaker’s good friends! He is a gay man 😌
Enjoy the preview!
Also: TW for attempted kidnapping

Mac. I see you’re working the same shift two nights in a row now. I’ll have my usual. *pause, deadpan* Very funny. No, I do not plan on drinking myself into a stupor until the bar closes. Not tonight, anyway. *takes a swig of her drink, pause* What? No. I’m not looking to go home with anyone. Why? *light scoff* Don’t tell me you’re interested. I think you’ve known me long enough to be well aware you’re not my type. And last I checked, I certainly wasn’t yours.
*pause as she looks behind her* Hmm? Oh. The girl by the pool table? Right. I’ve noticed her looking at me every now and then, since I first walked in. Biting her lip and blushing and immediately glancing away when she catches my eye. *low chuckle* Subtlety is not her strong suit. *shrug* She’s cute, but like I said. I’m not interested. *pause, sighs and rolls eyes* You think a hookup would be healthier for me than moping over a bottle? You’re a pretty shit bartender, Mac.
*tone sharpens* Hey. That man sitting over there, in the corner. Yeah, the one in the striped shirt taking a swig from a beer. You ever see him here before? Yeah, me neither. He looks familiar, but I can’t put my finger on it… he’s watching that girl like a hawk, the girl we were just talking about. You didn’t see them come in together, did you? *pause* She came here a few nights ago with friends, but he wasn’t one of them, huh? And tonight she came alone… *another pause before she sighs* I’m overthinking this. And anyway, it’s not my damn business. I’m better off not inserting myself into other people’s problems. *pause* Exactly. I’m through with that. Besides, it looks like she’s finally leaving, so -
Shit. He’s following her. Yes, I’m sure. He’s - dammit. *stool is pushed back as she stands* I’m going out there. I know what I said! Just - I’ll be back.
*clipped walking sfx*
*calls out* Hey. *increased alarm, tone hardening* Shit! HEY! *runs up and shoves the man away* Get. Your hands. Off of her. You’ve got ears - she doesn’t want to go anywhere with you, sleazeball. *pause, humorless laugh* No, I think you don’t want to mess with me. Try to drag her off again, and you’ll be on the ground either way a broken arm before you can blink. *pause, sharp tone* What do you mean, you won’t be the last? Wait. *realization* You’re- ah! *yells in pain as the perpetrator cuts her arm with a hidden pocket knife before running away*
Ugh… no! No, he’s already too far ahead. Little shit can run. Just let him go - he won’t show his face here again if he knows what’s good for him. *pause, fully looking at the listener* I saw him creeping on you in the bar. He didn’t hurt you, did he? *pause* Yeah… he tore your sleeve, but you seem unscathed. That’s good. Ah -
Whoa, slow down. Deep breaths. *pause* So… you were coming outside to get some fresh air when he showed up, grabbed you around the waist, and tried to haul you off. You ever seen that guy before now? *pause* Never, huh? Well. Definitely don’t go to any more bars alone. In fact, I’d advise to avoid them altogether. He and his people are trouble. *huffs* I recognized him when I got a closer look at him. He’s an enforcer for a loan shark around these parts. I’m not going to pry into your affairs - but once those type of people have got their sights set on you, they won’t let up. You need to be careful.
…it’s not a big deal. But you’re welcome. I’m glad I was here too. *clears throat* I agree, probably best for you to head home. Well. I’ll wait here with you if you want to get a cab, but then I’m going back ins- what? *pause, looks down at her arm* Oh. It’s just a scratch. The blood makes it look worse than it is, it’s fine. *pause, audible frown* You’re… studying to be a nurse. Well, that means nothing to me. If I say I’m fine, I’m fine.
You at least want to dress and bandage my arm… *sigh* You said your apartment isn’t far? And you have a first aid kit there? Tsk. Don’t look at me like that, all… petulant. *long pause* Fine. Do what you want, it doesn’t matter to me. Just let me go close my tab, and then I’ll get us a taxi. *pause* …yes. Stick close.
