Hi everyone! Today I would like to show a litte test that I've been working on for the past few days. I had the idea to have Ganondorf's minions roaming in castle town streets. I decided to try with the stalchild enemy in Zelda Oot.
Then I was wondering how they would look like if there were like hundreds of them running at the same time? I think I just made an army by accident haha. I added some random camera movment to get a better feel but the result just blew my mind! Very spooky!
For the technical stuff:
In Unreal Engine I decided to try to use the niagara particle system to spawn my characters and give them a running animation that I created before in 3ds max. Then I gave them some velocity and used a point attraction force linked to a sphere. This way my particles system is spawning hundreds of these characters, they are running and follow the sphere when I move it. This is litterally a video game haha.
The world of video games and films are so close!
But now that I made that, it will help me a lot to achieve shots like you just saw above. It's really incredible. I'm using video game techniques and tools to make short films.
