Update for the Next Few Months

Hello all,

I wanted to post this update while I was still open for commissions. Some folks may still want to try and get in for March.

Tl;dr: March will likely be the last month I take commissions for the next six months or so—possibly longer.

I've been thinking about this for a long time and talked to many friends about it. Since getting back into 3D modeling a few months ago, I've really had the itch to do more of it. It's hard for me to find time to focus on side projects when my time is mostly spent on commissions. But 3D has captured my interest in a way that nothing else has within the past five years or so and I'm super excited about it! There's a lot of opportunity there too. And in short, I just need a change of pace.

I've decided to take a sabbatical where I can really concentrate on 3D art for a few months and totally immerse myself in it. I'm really excited about all the different stuff there is to do with it and I have a ton of ideas I want to try out. I've also got enough money saved up that I can pay myself for that time. In a sense, I'll be paying myself to learn 3D.

Patreon will continue to be active!  I will be continuing the comic and starting a new one once the current Happy Birdday comic ends. I'll also continue to do art, so I'll still be posting regularly. My goal will continue to be posting two times a week, and I'll probably release a comic page every two weeks or so as I have been doing. Plus as I start to do 3D stuff, I will be posting that too.

I'll certainly continue to do furry art as well, although I'll probably take it a bit easier. (I've been working at a pretty breakneck pace for all of 2020, with only a two week break around Christmas. And then again since January. So a more leisurely pace would really help me out right now.) I'll likely end up doing more with new tools and techniques, like the Cheerleader pic I posted today, since I don't get a chance to try new things with commissions. And I've got a list of gift art ideas that I've been meaning to do for friends, so I'll probably do a bunch of that with the extra time too.

I'm posting this now, firstly because I'm still currently open, and there may be people on the fence if they want to submit an idea now or wait til next month. Well next month probably won't be until October, so you may be interested in submitting now. And secondly, I've been waiting until I paid down some larger expenses before I felt comfortable cutting my income and working independently for a while. I just paid off all my credit cards, and my car will be totally paid off next month. (After five years, finally!) Along with paying off the car also comes a huge reduction in insurance premiums since I no longer have to carry extra insurance to cover the loan. So that's quite a bit that I no longer have to worry about covering with commissions work each month.

So that's what I've got planned! I'm really excited about it and I can't wait to see how it goes.
