Comic Updates (There Will Be More Of Them)

While I was on vacation I had some time to reflect on the work I've been doing and what I want for the near term.

One thing I haven't been happy with for a long time now is the slow pace of the comic. I've noticed when I sit down to work on it, I can build momentum and get a lot done if I work on it for several weeks at a time. But usually when I start to build that momentum I have to stop to work on something else. And then sometimes I'll end up going a month or more between working on pages. (E.g. I'll release 2 pages at the beginning of one month, then not til the end of the following month.)

I've decided to make a change for the summer where I focus primarily on the comic. My goal is to at least double the number of pages I'm doing each month (one per week, on average), and possibly do more than that. It's something of an experiment to see how much I can get done and how that workflow works for me. I'll re-evaluate where I am around September or so and see if I want to continue with it or shift back to something else.

Along similar lines, I've realized that if I want to do more 3D work, I need more practice with things other than building characters, and generally just more practice with things that aren't porn. Unfortunately this is a hard sell for a Patreon like this. (I know a lot of people are happy to support me regardless of what I'm doing, and I really appreciate that! But also a lot of people can't afford to sub to a Patreon that's not providing what they want and I totally understand that too.) So taking a break from posting regular 3D work will hopefully give me a chance to work on some of these other exercises and general practice that I need to improve my skills in 3D.

The obvious solution to both of these things is to focus more on the comic for a time and put 3D on the back burner. I do still really want to do my game project idea, and I've actually made some decent project towards that already this year. I'm still going to be working towards it, I just have to do some other stuff first.

And obviously I'm still doing sketches and other art for fun. That said, because the comic pages are full color, I might end up doing a lot more sketches and less full color art for the next few months, since all the coloring I'm spending time on will be for the comic specifically.

Anyway, I just wanted to let everyone know what I've been thinking about and what I'll be focusing on. I'm going to try it for the next 3 or 4 months, and if it goes well I'll keep it going for a while.

Thanks!

PS—For everyone who is following my Patreon but not actually subscribed, this also means I'll be releasing more pages publicly faster too. I plan to release one a week to start, and then probably more often once I build up a little more of a buffer. I post the comic publicly on Bluesky, Itaku and Weasyl.
