Over the past week I've been working on retopo'ing this model of a horse. It's been a bit frustrating for a bunch of reasons. It feels like the more I practice it, the less I'm able to get a good retopo going. I think the mesh is far too dense, but I'm not sure how to use fewer polys without compromising the form. And it's still a huge hassle to get good loops, and then I often don't manage it anyway. I also keep thinking there's got to be a better way to do this. Maybe starting with a lower poly base mesh, or a base mesh that I can shrinkwrap onto a sculpt to save time.
I don't know, I'm just in a weird spot where I'm not satisfied with the results and I don't know how to fix it. :c Anyway, without more info I'll just have to go with this one for now. And maybe try different techniques on future models.
This still needs the mouth interior finished and the junk added to, so there's still some work yet. But overall, it looks like a horse, so that's a start I guess. x)
