Finally got this one across the line! Thanks for your patience while I was working on this one.
I have a new respect for Martin Hanford, creator of the Where's Wally books (Where's Waldo in the US). I'd read that he used to spend 2 or 3 months just on the sketch to layout each spread. Then another few months doing the clean up work. I can definitely believe it. My original intent was to have more characters than this, but the page was just taking so long I got about this far and figured, okay that's probably enough. x)
I think if anything good came out of doing this page is that I feel like I've gotten a lot faster and more confident about drawing and detailing more characters at this scale and in a group like this. It's not only a large crowd scene, but at an unusual angle as well. There's definitely something to be said for pushing out of your comfort zone and doing a more complex thing every once in a while. This page will probably make the regular pages seem easy in comparison. I've already started the other one, so should be back on track with the comic soon.
