"Come on in!" Claudia called, kicking her legs happily as she laid on her bed, snacking on Halloween candy. As soon as she'd said it, she regretted it, looking as she heard the door start to open, re-adjusting herself so her body would block the view of her stash from anyone who came in.

"Umm..." she heard her friend Regina say, practically able to hear the blush forming on the girl's cheeks. "Claud?"

"Sorry, I'm, like, super busy," Claudia fibbed; she was looking at magazines, and eating candy, which didn't really qualify. It was all she really needed, though...

"Then why did you tell us to come in?" Payton asked.

Claudia rolled her eyes. Of course Payon was there, too... She was definitely glad she'd moved now, since she had no doubt both of them would judge her if they saw what she was really doing. Sure, the magazines were kind of trashy - and, if she was being honest, aimed more at tweens than a college student like her - and she'd told them she wasn't going to buy any Halloween candy until it went on sale on the first of November, but she'd found a really good deal on it... somewhere... and she couldn't help herself.

She frowned, trying to remember where exactly she had gotten it. She'd definitely just done it, because she hadn't had any the night before, or she would have taken it with her on their little adventure, and yet, she couldn't quite place where, or when, it had happened in her memory. She squirmed, hearing a light crinkle as she moved, her head starting to hurt a little bit.

"That's not important!" Regina snapped. "Claud, what are you wearing?!"

"My uniform, duh!" Claudia answered, the pain in her head amplifying a touch. She was in college... She didn't have a uniform anymore. Back when she'd been able to just hang out, look at her silly teen magazines, and eat candy without judgement, however, she had, and that was definitely what she was wearing now... But where had she gotten it?!

"Oh!" Suddenly, the realization hit her, cutting through the pain, making her feel happy and safe once more. "It's my Halloween costume! It's my old uniform... My mom sent it to me, and it still fits! Isn't it cute?" She wanted to get up, to give them a twirl, but if she did that, they'd see her candy, so she wiggled her bottom instead, giggling.

"That's... not really what she meant," Payton replied.

"Well, it's what I'm wearing, silly," Claudia rolled her eyes again. "If you're just going to be weird, I have stuff to do."

"No, we need to talk to you!" Regina insisted. "Claud, we think something's wrong... We think something followed us home last night."

Last night... Claudia shivered. She was the one who had found out about the abandoned, supposedly haunted, house, not that far from the campus, although it had been Payton who had insisted the three of them go. Claudia hadn't wanted to, had wished she'd kept her mouth shut about it, but, as usual, the other two had talked her into it.

"Claudia!" Payton gasped in horror. "What are you doing?!"

"I'm busy!" Claudia whined, spreading her arms out wider to try to keep them from seeing what with. "Look, I think you should go..."

"No, Claud, I think this is important!" Regina told her, moving closer to the bed.

"Go away!" Claudia yelled, kicking her legs. "Leave me alone! I don't care about the stupid house!"

Thankfully, they took the hint, leaving her to enjoy herself in peace. She blushed a little, feeling a warmth in her diaper, but that was okay... She knew she didn't have to worry about that. It would be taken care of, just like everything else...

"Did you see that?!" Regina could barely wait until they were out in the hall of the dorm to ask Payton, the image still burned into her mind. Seeing Claudia that way, dressed up like a little schoolgirl, diaper on display, had been bad enough, but then, to witness that discoloration appear in the padding, and slowly spread, Claudia too busy throwing a tantrum to notice herself... "I think this is even worse than we thought..."

"Well, what are we going to do?!" Payton demanded. "If we disturbed some spirit in there, all three of us need to go back to try to make things right, and she obviously doesn't want to go anywhere..."

Regina swallowed anxiously, mind racing a hundred miles an hour. "M-Maybe not," she shrugged weakly. "I-I mean, we don't really know how this stuff works... There might be another way..."

"Maybe," Payton agreed. "Or maybe we should just drag her out of there and make her go back."

"Come on, Pay," Regina rolled her eyes. "You saw how she was acting... She'd probably kick and scream the whole way; we wouldn't make it out of the dorm before someone assumed she was drunk or something and took her back to her room to sleep it off."

"Fine," Payton sighed. "I'll go do some more research, I guess, see if I can find a way to fix this with only the two of us."

"Okay," Regina nodded. "Yeah, that sounds good. Give me a call if you do."

She headed down the hall, turning to open her door automatically, frowning for a moment as a headache started to take shape in the back of her mind. She wasn't on the same floor of the dorm as Claud and Pay... Had she taken the steps up? She didn't remember doing that, or waiting for the elevator to appear... And yet, here she was, already...

She must have. That was the only explanation... She'd done it so many times, she'd been on auto-pilot, and forgotten all about it. She had other things on her mind, after all, so it wasn't that strange to think her body had taken over while her brain was occupied. It was fine... Nothing to worry about.

Perhaps she should have helped out, done some research herself, and she might, but she needed to calm down first, and the thing that always worked for her when it came to that, as odd as it seemed to most people other than her, was homework. All her life, she'd been used to hearing her classmates complain about it; for her, however, there was something satisfying about being able to sit down and work on something, a sense of accomplishment in working her way through a set of questions or problems, one by one...

She sat down at her desk and got to work. If she just concentrated, she wouldn't have to think about the haunted house, or about what she'd seen in Claudia's room, what might be awaiting her if Regina couldn't figure out how to take the spirit, or whatever had followed them to their dorm, back to where it belonged.

But the vision of her friend, wearing a diaper and seeming to think nothing of it, wetting it seemingly without noticing, or caring, kept haunting her. Claudia was a bit on the immature side, so it made sense that she would be targeted first, yet it was still an unnerving sight, seeing her that way. How long had it taken? Had there been any warning signs? She tried to think about whether she'd seen the girl on campus that day, what she'd been dressed like then, only to have her head start hurting again.

"Doesn't matter," she muttered out loud, leaning in further over her homework. All she had to do was sit here, and do her work, like a good little girl...

She blushed, wondering why she'd thought that, squirming in place, the sound of Claudia's diaper haunting her with its phantom crinkle, calling to mind, once more the image of her friend peeing it. That was so gross... She couldn't even guess what that would have felt like! It must have been warm, and wet, spreading its way through the padding, beneath her bottom as she wiggled in place...

Except, she hadn't been sitting down, had she? If she'd been squirming, like Regina was now, she wouldn't have felt that same squish that Regina was imagining... But it seemed so real... She could still hear the crinkling now...

She saw something out of the corner of her eye, turning her head with a gasp. She felt disoriented, having been certain she was facing the other direction, although that wasn't the most worrying part... On the wall behind her, there were colorful, giant puzzle pieces, each with a letter of the alphabet on them, like the sort of thing you would find in a daycare, or a nursery... And, as she watched, more appeared, building outwards, working to cover the whole wall...

Looking at the rest of her room, she could see that wasn't the only thing changing, as her bedspread began to morph into something more childish, before bars started to sprout up around it, her her possessions slowly, one by one, turning from things a college student might need, like a backpack, or a microscope, into a diaper bag and stacking ring toy...

She had to get out of here! She tried to slide out of the desk, just to realize, finally, that she was no longer at it at all, that it had morphed into a high chair, the tray firmly locked into place, no matter how hard she shook it... And, to add insult to injury, she'd changed, too. Looking down with a blush, she saw the pacifier clipped to the front of her simple, white shirt, and, under that, a babyish, pink diaper... One that was every bit as wet and squishy as she'd imagined Claudia's to be.

Finally, as the puzzle pieces came together, meeting at the door, it opened, a beautiful, tall woman strutting in, carrying a large bowl of baby food. "Hello, dear," she smiled. "Are you all done?"

"No!" Regina shook her head, trying to break free, shaking the tray again, stomach churning at the sight of her workbook, which had changed into a coloring book, her pen morphed into a pack of crayons. "Let me out!"

"That's all right," the woman told her, taking it away, and setting the bowl down in its place. "You can finish up after supper..."

Payton had known, right away, there was something wrong with the house, although she'd been too embarrassed to say anything to her friends, to see if it was her imagination, or anything more. For as old as the place was, and as run down, she could still smell baby powder, as clear as day, from the very moment they'd stepped foot inside.

It was probably her imagination, she'd told herself; if ghosts were associated with any scent, it was that of sulphur. Why would she be smelling baby powder instead? It didn't make any sense... At least, not until they decided to brave the decaying spiral staircase upwards, to the second floor. There was a whole row of rooms there, all decorated like nurseries, with old changing tables, cribs, high chairs in each...

"Did these people have this many kids?" Claudia had wondered out loud.

"I don't know," Payton had frowned. "Those cribs look awfully big..."

"And look," Claudia had teased. "This room's for you!" Sure enough, there was a sign hanging on one of the doors, lopsided, and as decrepit as the rest of the house, though the name 'Payton' could just barely be made out, engraved in the wood. Claudia reached for the doorknob excitedly, only for Payton to stop her.

"I-I'm not sure this is a good idea," she'd shaken her head.

"Don't be silly," Claudia had said. "It's just a coincidence!"

The room didn't look any different from the others... They were all different, in one way or another, but, in the end, they were just all oversized nurseries. It definitely felt different, however, whether that was Payton's imagination or not, and it left her feeling unsettled, wanting to leave, well before they found another room with a sign indicating it was for a Regina, or the one with Claudia's name on it.

By then, even Claudia was obviously freaked out, but, since she'd made the other two look in 'their' rooms, Payton wasn't about to let her out of opening her door. And, when they did, they saw the woman, standing there, grinning. "There you are, girls," she'd said. "I'd say it's just about your bedtimes..."

They'd run away, of course, while Payton tried to rationalize that this was all a prank that Claudia, as the person who had 'heard about' the house, had set up, or that someone had overheard them talking about it and decided to give them a scare... The woman must not have chased them, or she surely would have caught up to them as they navigated their way down the spiral staircase, and out the door... Except, Payton didn't recall actually doing that. She knew they must have, but her memory of it was fuzzy, making her brain hurt whenever she thought too hard about it...

This whole day had felt that way, strange and out of focus, and off... She knew something was wrong, even before she and Regina had gone to talk to Claudia. Seeing her there had only confirmed it, had told her how urgent it was that she figure out how to banish the spirit that had clearly followed them back, before it did any more damage...

She flopped down on her bed, opening up her laptop, frantically clicking away, looking through webpage after webpage, searching for something, anything that might help them. Frustratingly, they just seemed to lead her in a big loop, one page taking her to another, which linked back to the first, all parroting the same, useless junk, no matter how deep into them she dug, every link that appeared to be a source, getting her hopes up that she'd discover some more in-depth information, instead going to one of the other sites she'd already been to. It was almost, she thought with a frown, like a trap.

She looked up from the laptop screen with that realization to see the bars around her, stretching upwards, hearing a crinkling from beneath her, as she moved, a plastic sheet buried beneath the snuggly covers, and from her own body, as she looked down and saw what she was wearing, the bulky, infantile diaper, and a shirt that was no less childish, and came nowhere close to being long enough to reach the diaper, much less cover it.

She could smell the scent of baby powder again, yet, no matter how sweet and innocent and clean the aroma was, it still made her stomach churn. She recognized this room... This was the nursery she'd seen, with her name on it. It looked fresh and new, not old and run down, but, otherwise, it was exactly the same... Except that now, she was in it, dressed as if she belonged there.

They'd been wrong; nothing had followed them home from the haunted house... They'd never left. That was why she couldn't remember any specifics about getting back to campus... They'd been made to think that they were back there, that it was a day later, so that they were perfectly safe, and then they'd gone back to their rooms, lured to one spot and given something to keep them there, to let the change happen...

She turned back to the laptop, seeing now that it was nothing more than a plastic toy, the screen a sticker of a static image, a cartoony 'webpage' with pictures of kittens, and a few simple poems written on it. It hadn't been a coincidence that her name had been on this door... This was meant to be her room, and, unless she got out of here right now, she had a bad feeling it would be, forever.

She gulped, staring down at the floor beneath the crib, preparing herself to hop down, wondering if she was brave enough to go to her friends' rooms and try to save them, only to hear a soft grunt, and realize, a moment later, it was coming from her. She frowned and fidgeted, feeling a soft, mushy lump begin forming in the seat of her diaper as she crouched in her crib, not realizing what it could be, what she was in the perfect position to do, until the smell hit her, finally overpowering the scent of the baby powder.

"No!" she squealed, reaching back, cheeks burning at what her fingers found, probing the back of her diaper, what was still growing. She fought with all her might, trying to stop it, to halt the slow, creeping landslide, but nothing she did made any difference whatsoever. She was pooping her pants like a toddler, and there wasn't a single thing she could do about it.

"There's my good girl," the woman cooed, making Payton jump, not having realized she was there, right beside her. The woman chuckled, giving the girl's sagging bottom a pat. "Now, it's time for bed... Don't worry, there will be plenty of time for you to play with your sisters tomorrow."

Payton stammered, trying to plead with the woman, to ask her not to do this, to change her - and hopefully her friends, although, at this point, she was willing to let them stay if she could get away herself - back, but all that came out was baby babble, as the woman rolled her over, tucked her in tightly, dirty diaper and all, pulling the side of the crib up with a loud click.

If this was a trap, Payton thought, staring up at the bars with a gulp, she'd walked right into it... And now she was stuck in it until, at least, the next morning. She could only hope this was as far as it was going to go, that she would still wake up, remembering who she really was, that she was an adult, despite her room, despite her diapers, despite everything... Maybe, if she did recall that, she'd have a chance of finding a way to escape, eventually... Or, perhaps, all those old memories would fade away, like this past day that hadn't actually happened, and, by the time she woke up, she'd think it was all a dream... Whatever her fate would be, she had no control over it now, no ability to do anything except wait and see, squirming anxiously, helplessly, in her messy diaper.
