Hello everyone, here is the long awaited Cynthia animation!
It feels like I have so much to go over, so I'll start by talking a bit about the animation itself. (wall of text incoming lol)
I wasn't too familiar with Cynthia or just Pokemon characters in general, but her desgin is pretty nice if a little simple. The main challenge I found was coming up with a scene when first starting this animation since I'm not too familiar with the setting or her lore. In the end, I felt like a vibrant outdoor scene would be as good a choice as any so that's what I went with.
Those of you who've been following the progress updates will note that the animation has undergone a handful of revisions. Besides the general corrections to things like the anatomy, pose, and positioning of stuff in the scene, there was also the outfits. I really wanted to make two different outfits in addition to the nude version. My initial idea was to have a slightly modified version of her default outfit, as well as a lingerie version. Inspired by a handful of fanarts I saw, for the lingerie version I decided to go with thigh highs, long gloves, a collar, and pasties which I think actually turned out quite nice. As for the modified version of her default outfit, I tried a few different ideas but I couldn't get any of them to look quite right. My first idea was to just remove the pants from the outfit, but it made her top half look oddly overdressed, and I couldn't find a way to make pants fit with the pose so I scrapped that idea. My second idea was to just keep the jacket with the fur trim, and have an alternate style of lingerie instead but it didn't really look different enough from just the lingerie version, at least not enough to justify all the extra time I'd spend on it. I also briefly experimented with some dresses but couldn't get them to look right either so in the end, I scrapped the second outfit and just went for a nude version and a skimpy version.
I did include versions with one, two, and three guys like with the Kronii animation from a while back, since there was enough room in the composition to fit them all. I only did two climax scenes, but went with a more zoomed out shot for the first one than I usually do, so that I could do different versions of it. Personally, I'm actually really happy with how it turned out, I think It's one of the best clima scenes I've done recently. While I did blend the lighting in the loops a bit more like I used to, I kept the climax scenes mostly cell shaded like last two animations. The reason I didn't blend it as much as the loops is that it's really hard to get the blending looking consistent on a scene with a lot of frames and subtle movement and it ends up looking really bad when it's all jittery and inconsistant. Personally, I think both styles have their appeal, but curious what you think. Do you prefer the softer shading style that I used here, or the one that I used for the Ty Lee animation?
I'll be honest, I'm a bit frustrated with myself with just how long it took me to finish this animation. Unfortunately, I did encounter a number of delays and while a bunch of them were beyong my control, it still sucked. I took about three weeks after finishing Ty Lee to work on the Jane Doe animation. It wasn't on the polls but I just really liked the trailer and hadn't been that inspired to animate something in a while. I did work on that with the intention of getting back to this aniamtion and getting done by Christmas at the latest, but I ended up having send my drawing tablet (again) so I couldn't animate for like two weeks. And then shortly after that I had bluescreen issues on my PC for another two weeks or so and lost several hours of progress, and then had to send in the PC for repairs which took another week. Ultimately, since I didn't end up getting done before the holidays, so that ended up adding some more time onto what was already a massive amount of delays. In the end though, frustrating as all that was, I'm glad I didn't try to rush out the animation and comprimise on the quality.
Now that all my stuff is fixed (and I hope it stays that way), I'll be able to go back to putting out more frequent updates!
To those of you who have joined recently, the latest character polls are still up, so make sure to go cast your vote if you haven't already! I'll be closing them in about a week. Keep in mind that I'm trying out a new poll system, so even if a character doesn't win, their votes will carry over into future polls!
Tier 1, tier 2, tier 3.
Thank you so much for you continued support, you make these animations possible!
