Hey friends,
Every day, Iāve been glued to my screen for 10ā12 hours straight, editing photos from Madeira without a single break. And guess what? Youāre the first to knowāweāre working on a brand-new photo book! š¤«
Thatās why Iām rushing to finish all the images as soon as possible, but I still wanted to take a moment to share a bit about our journey for this project!
This trip was actually supposed to happen back in early December, but after I ended up in the hospital, we had to postpone it. Still, Iām beyond happy that we finally made it happen!
Madeira is pure magicāan indescribably beautiful island that feels like a mix of Ireland, Iceland, Asia, and Spain all at once. I could go on and on, but no words could ever truly capture its beauty. šæ
And this trip taught me something newāto enjoy the moment, not just shoot, shoot, shoot! On the first day, Nastya looked at me and said: āWe got the shots, we have masterpiecesānow enough, we need to enjoy ourselves too!ā
That was a revelation for me. In our last project in Iceland, we barely slept, constantly chased locations, and shot endlessly. We pushed ourselves to the limitāand, of course, everyone got sick. I was the first to go down, probably because I also drove 2,500 km as the only driver. My body simply couldnāt take it.
On top of that, we were saving money on food since Iceland is insanely expensive, so we lived on gas station sandwiches for almost a week. š
Honestly, I dream of going back to Iceland because we traveled the entire circle of the islandābut not once did we stop just to enjoy the moment. Not for a day, not for half a day, not even for an hour. It was all about shooting and driving.
This time, I finally let myself breathe. Nastya was amazing at slowing me down, reminding me that even on a work trip, you can still rest and enjoy. And Iām so grateful to her for that š«¶š»
I could talk about Madeira foreverāthe wild storms, the most unpredictable weather Iāve ever seen, the unreal blue of the ocean, the raw, untamed nature, the sweetest bananas Iāve ever tasted, the giant shrimp the size of my hand, the strangest plants we had never seen before, the endless hydrangeas, the cows that are everywhereā¦
But honestly, the best thing you can do is go there, at least once in your life. Youāll never forget itšæ
