March is the Vaginaest Month

For whatever reason, March is when I have the most GTA work. I've had 70 pelvic exams this month and will have around 21 more by the end of this week.

So I'm tired. I don't even want to think about how much time I've spent in transit. Between that and painting/unpacking, I haven't had much energy to be creative. I did perform twice, and booked a couple more shows, and have been reworking some old acts while listening to my headphones on the train. 

I've also been reading a lot to find inspiration/comparable titles for my memoir. So far I've read Whipsmart, Candy Girl, and #GIRLBOSS. None of them seem exactly right. Whipsmart and Candy Girl have a disdain for clients that I never felt and they're both women who turned to sex work because they were bored. #GIRLBOSS also has a vibe I don't like and not just because it made me seriously regret a lot of my 20something life choices.

I feel like I most want to take inspiration from We Were Witches by Ariel Gore. It has a completely dissimilar subject matter but there's a feeling to it that I love. There's a closeness you feel with the author, like the two of you are huddled together for warmth while she whispers secret stories of the amazing women she's met.

But you don't sell a sexy burlesque book by comparing it to a magical realist memoir about a teenage mom. So the hunt continues.
