I've gone back and forth about posting my screenplay progress here. Most of it is out of order and some of the scenes don't make sense on their own. So I've settled on not posting everything, just bits that I think work on their own. I've also changed the names of the characters so it's easier to fictionalize. The main character is now Lovelle. Her Dad is Martin. Right now her mom's name is Constance because I liked referencing We Have Always Lived in the Castle but Johnny said Merricat was too weird of a name. I'm not really happy with Constance though, so it's just a place holder for now.

INT: SCHOOL- DAY

Lovelle gapes at the massive crowd of kids around her. Camera pulls out till she's lost in the crowd.

Camera pans down a line of new students, all wearing jeans and band shirts. It stops at Lovelle, looking lost and uncomfortable.

Staff member behind the front desk mechanically slams a stack of books and paper in front of first student in line, then pushes it to the side so the student steps forward, takes their books and walks out of the line. This repeats as each student steps forward, everything moves with the feel of a factory.

Lovelle stumbles through the crowd, lost and looking for anything familiar.

In the locker room Lovelle squints at her locker instructions, clearly confused. She struggles with the lock till a bell rings. A teacher walks by and she tries to stop them.

LOVELLE

Um, excuse me, I'm having some trouble with...

Teacher does not stop. Halls start emptying out. Lovelle shoves all her books into her back pack and starts looking for her homeroom.

INT CLASSROOM- DAY

Lovelle comes in late. Students around her take out brand new trapper keepers. Lovelle sheepishly pulls out her used Lisa Frank Binder.

INT CLASS ROOM- LATER

Teacher is lifelessly reading aloud from textbook while writing on the board.

LOVELLE:

(Voiceover)

Ok. This doesn't have to be boring. Pretend you're agent Scully on her first day at Quantico. This is vital information. It could save a life one day.

Lovelle perks up, diligently taking notes.

LOVELLE:

(Voiceover)

Nope, this is still really boring.
