Sanctuary

Welcome to my sanctuary. I hope you like lattes, plants, and fighting slumlords.

Things I've learned while trying to learn to unionize the old, low-income apartment building I call home: the first step is building solid community. There will be neighborly disagreements to navigate, transphobia and sexism have to be plowed through and left behind, you have to find the people who will have your back. I feel young, in that there is always so much to learn. I've learned how to use the top of the broom to close the windows...upwards, and latch them. I've fallen in love with the sun they bring my plants, and myself. We are finding moments to thrive here. I'm learning little ways to fix up my own place and will keep seeing how we can collectively fix up the building and fight for our community.

Building a powerful tenants union takes a lot of time and effort, and I have a deep respect for anyone who does it.
