I hope your scary season has been fun<3 I’ve been enjoying this foray into tying! This shoot was definitely showcasing the skills of the person that I’m tying with most often and learning from. The idea behind it was “summoning a succubus”. But in the whole scene, it reinforced the artistic and intimate but entirely unsexualized elements of tying for me.

The most interesting part of the shoot for me was exploring different types of pain that I talked about in my main post. I’m thinking a lot about how I handle pain and what makes me feel strong and controlled. The hardest thing for me to handle is definitely the futotmomo pain and I realize that I process that with the understanding I may want something very badly, but when we pick and choose what to love and do, we also are choosing the bad, painful, or hurtful aspects of that thing, too. To make that long lasting, we have to choose to take those challenges on, too. While my tying partner loves futomomo’s particular type of pain, it may just not be for me, and that’s okay. Well, it’s okay except that I really want every other aspect of futomomos.

The hardest psychologically was by far letting our photographer in on the wax moment. That’s a kind of pain that forces my body into doing things I don’t feel in control of, and that’s perhaps the scariest thing for me, is being witnessed in that moment. I feel okay being observed while being in pain and while struggling, but it feels so much more intimate for someone to see me when I lose control of that.

Nothing compares to the pain of trying to learn a new skill, though! Here I left you some additional shots I found interesting, and a couple additional photos (2 and the last one) that show some of the path of learning photoshop and photo editting. I'm learning to do more creative edits, so I added the first attempt I made without guidance on making a card glow, and one of the pre-edits to a photo I did a glow and night affect on (the last one here).
