So I've been working on a video about the Christian mystic/theologian Meister Eckhart (d. 1328), one of the most interesting thinkers in European history. And I wanted to recommend to you three books on the subject that I have used as my primary sources.
Bernard McGinn is the leading scholar on Eckhart today, and his "The Mystical Thought of Meister Eckhart" is probably the best introduction to his ideas that you can find today.
The other two books ("Meister Eckhart: The Essential Sermons, Commentaries, Treatises and Defense" & "Meister Eckhart: Teacher & Preacher") are an excellent collection of translations of some of his core treatises and sermons, both from Latin and German. It is part of the "Classics of Western Spirituality" series of books, which I can also warmly recommend; it translates and makes understandable some of the classics of Christianity, Judaism, Islam and Native American traditions.
Video should be out pretty soon, although it's gonna be a long one so it might take a little longer than usual.
