Typewriter is fully functional in both games! It will function as a computer and is base game compatible. Sims 4: Typewriter is enabled for off-the-grid and has appropriate tuning. Please let me know if you experience any issues.
Please make sure you are downloading the correct files for your game version. The Sims 3 zip and files are indicated with "S3".
