February 14th: Wild Cardz

We’ve given plenty of anime passes on this show for having stellar animation holding up less-than-stellar plot. But what happens when sakuga isn’t enough? We’ll find out with Wild Cardz, a 90s anime brought forth by a small collective of Transformers artists trying to turn a reader’s submission column into a potential franchise.

February 29th: Horus, Prince of the Sun

This might be the oldest anime ever covered by KYOTO VIDEO because this one essentially helped build the modern cinematic landscape for anime. See how union troubles amidst a Toei currently undergoing restructuring in the 60s created the movie that would eventually help make Studio Ghibli. Speaking of…

March 17th: Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind

In celebration of the 40th anniversary of one of the most important anime films of all time, KYOTO VIDEO is finally looking at Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind. As they enter an all-digital future where the OVA landscape is becoming much more fraught, will they be able to pull of another sexy-romp in the vein of Aika? Maybe they added a surprisingly Russian flare…

April 29th: Metal Skin Panic MADOX-01

In the mid-80s, Wizardry developer Robert Woodhead decided to take a big chance and make an entirely new business to bring Japanese animation over to the states. After a trip to Japan, he received the license to Metal Skin Panic MADOX-01. An action sci-fi story about an everyman stuck in a military mech and having to defend himself, this is a forgotten anime that needs to be brought back into the light considering its place in history.
