stretches Welp, summer vacation time is over! Let’s get back in the swing of things by posting what we having coming up until the end of October.

But before I do, I would like to give you all some detail on the final episode of the Merrie History of Looney Tunes. I was actually able to make some progress on writing it while I was gone. But since it’s turned out a lot BIGGER than I had initially planned (I was already expected it to be a massive undertaking), the script it still a work in progress. However, I have been able to finish and finalize the sections about Looney Tunes history from the 70s, 80s and 90s so far. So it’s pretty much all downhill from there. If everything goes as I planned, I should have the script finalized and recorded by the end of this month.

Until then, here’s what we’ve got to tie you over

September 15th – Slayers Gorgeous

What better way to come back from vacation than with our annual Slayers look. We cap off the Lina/Naga movie quadrilogy with 1998’s Slayers Gorgeous, the least remembered of the four and one who’s underpeformance signaled the beginning of the end for the franchise’s 90s glory days. Could that be due to outside factors or is the beauty of this movie just skin deep?

September 30th – Kino’s Journey

The unfortunate truth of the matter is that 2000s anime is an era of retro anime. One that appears to slowly be forgotten. This was the decade I came of age in and it is prime, fertile ground for search for series begging for a revisit. Perfect time to talk about rediscovered favorite of mine, 2003’s Kino’s Journey. A 13-episode light novel adaptation about a traveler and her talking motorcycle traveling to different locales and learning about their people and customs. Trust me, it’s a lot more philosophical and headier than the premise would have you believe.

October 14th – Bio Hunter

Halloween is here again and this year, things are gonna get icky. We’re talking body horror themed anime. The festivities will begin with the 1995 OVA Bio Hunter. An adaptation of a Fujihiko Hosono manga that desires to combine disgusting tentacle demons with dark, mysterious noire lighting. And yes, Yoshiaki Kawajiri is involved.

October 28th – Lily C.A.T.

Now the main event. 1987’s Lily C.A.T. A cosmic horror classic that was the anime industry’s attempt to combine Aliens with John Carpenter’s The Thing to terrifying results. How well does it match up to it’s obvious inspiration? Does it add something new? Should you trust that cat of yours watching you right now? All will be answered in due course.
