And so the final hangout even it open. Admittedly, it's the shortest one as well, not because I finished it last, but because it was actually the first hangout event I wrote.
As of right now, the game contains 64,204 words, which do include things that you can't yet access, but it's getting there.
Before I get to what has been updated: I'm probably going to spend few days fixing grammar and adding some extra details, then update it again here. I will try to get something worth seeing in that update though too. But if you'd prefer little more polished writing, hang in few days ^^
What's new?
- Rina's hangout event unlocked and now you can spend the evening with her! Do mind her hangout event has some variation. You do need to reset your date probably to see them though. Speaking of which...
- Added "Reset data" option to the very end of the demo. Just go through the "credit" section and you will see it. Used for debugging and in case you think you have made some unforgivable choices. Will be temporary, I tried to do this cool UI button I did for this but it just made it so you can't save. Fun. But never mind that, I wanna cry.
- 1 new CG art for Rina, using same method I used for Ian's CG art.
- Few new expressions for Rina.
- 5 new background for Rina's home + one for a scenic forest route.
- Complete re-working of how Sprites are presented. This should give them more cleaner look and also gives zooming an easier time. So you know, more closeups ;^)
- Complete re-working of Phone system. They are presented now differently, using masks and other magical functions.
- Ian's phone is updated. Now he won't pretend he has your phone and you can add his phone + his gallery, though it's a bit... less than he promised as of now.
- I did starting fixes on the grammar on Michael's party event... It should be more clearer, but I will need to proof read it again.
- UI UPDATE! Updated the text box UI, each character has their own text box look. Choice menu looks little more fancier. Menu screens completely worked, only "About", "Help" and "Options" menus were left little untouched. Some coloring fixes so the color palette in UI is more coherent.
- Along the above mention UI update, amount of Save slots were cut to 24 from 60, Autosaves / Quicksaves disabled and some fancy work on how Saves show in the menu done.
What's next?
- Fixing grammar and adding details such as phone messages (ex. When you go to Michael's party it does not show phone, just tells you what is seen on the phone.)
- Take all the needed assets for the demo and finish them. So probably going to make 12 hour stream where I just draw backgrounds as those are the most crucial for now.
- Getting sketches done for background art for Michael's house75%, Rina's house75%, rest of Sean's shop85% and Player's house80% Number have changed because new day/night variants are needed.. and numbers also try reflect the planned (but not yet needed) sketches.
- Adding few new poses for Michael. The dude is so static.
- Adding "special sprites" for few scenes.
- Probably going to also rework the UI few times, to figure out which will be the best for the game.
- Work on writing the main routes of every character. Rina 20%, Sean 80%, Michael 5% and Ian 5%.
This update was less on the game-play part, but high on everything else. And honestly the next updates before the demo can leave the Alpha state will be going to be pretty much the same. As of current standing, basically everything WRITTEN for the demo is now accessible and completed, excluding things that technically are in the "demo" part of the game (aka First day), but due to mechanics are inaccessible in the actual Demo.
Like I mentioned above, the next thing I'm going to focus on for couple of days is polishing the writing and adding all the phone-screens + some extra spice. But after that I will try to keep writing each route steadily while I work on actually finalizing all the sketches.
