Install
1. Head over to https://www.cartographer.online/ and download Halo 2: Project Cartographer if you don't already have it.
2. Download my mod here: https://www.patreon.com/file?h=21042764&i=2559789
3. Open the folder where you installed Halo 2 at. There should be a folder called "Maps". Copy the 5 map files in my mod into that folder. It will overwrite mainmenu.map.
4. Start Halo 2 and make an account.
5. Go to the "Cartographer" option on the main menu. From there you can change your Field of View and control scheme to your liking.
6. Have fun!
You will only be able to play this mod with other people who have it installed.
Info
This mod adjusts the games physics to make it more slidey and allows you to sort of "Ski". The weapons and vehicles have been adjusted to resemble weapons from the Tribes series. The suggested game mode for these maps is CTF. I also suggest making a custom CTF game mode that has the flag IFF on at all times.
Raindance is probably the best map. Katabatic and Outpost are okay. Arx Novena is oof.
The carbine is a spinfusor.
The sniper rifle scales off distance. The further the bullet travels the more damage it does. It becomes a one hit kill after about 1000 feet~
Plasma grenade is an Impact Nitron. It's only useful for impulse jumping (grenade jumping).
The rest of the weapons should be pretty easy to figure out.
Bugs
- Main menu says you need to reinstall the game. Just ignore that message. You don't need too.
- Client players cannot impulse jump. The developers of Project Cartographer have told me they will be adding an option to fix this in the next patch. They also might be adding hit sounds as well which would be great.
- No projectile inheritance. Engine limitation.
- Deadstops literally everywhere. Katabatic is probably the worst about this.
- Katabatic has serious lighting errors that I could not fix. Engine limitations.
- Explosion animations don't render after a certain distance, they deal damage like normal but don't show up. Engine limitation as far as I can tell.
