A clan of anthropomorphic fishes, varying from the appearance of bettas to that of carps. They have no hair in their body, but some can stylize their head fins into ponytails or other shapes, while some have facial fins that look like beards or mustaches. They also have tails in a great range of shapes, even using them as skirts when walking on land. A common trait to all Tideans are webbed fingers and toes, as well as fins growing from their limbs. As they say, their personalities and skills are as many as the droplets of water in the sea.
The Tide Clan is famous for their ability to breath under water, thanks to gills on the sides of their necks. They are highly valued as crew members of any ship, considered by many a sign of luck because of their ability to feel the tides and find safe paths in the ocean. They can also take care of ship repairs without the need of landing.
Their homeland is the archipelago of Alcesta, also known as the Thousand Islands, located between the three continents. Because of their geographic location and declared neutrality with other nations, they are home to the biggest port in the world, attracting merchants from everywhere.
Alcesta is a queendom shared by several aquatic clans, or Aquarians, with a court of nobles formed mainly by the Tide Clan, the Croaking Clan and the Immortal Clan. In their monarchy, succession is hereditary, but there is currently a high sense of intrigue because the current queen, Ethel, is too old to bear new children, and the crown princess, her only child, is dead.
