Hello,
So... you may have seen the news this morning. I've mentioned in the past that there's been a handful of moments in the last several years that have made me seriously reconsider whether I want to continue making wow content. This is definitely one of those moments.
For those that are unaware - https://news.bloomberglaw.com/daily-labor-report/activision-blizzard-sued-by-california-over-frat-boy-culture
Now... I've only been awake for a little while and I'm still kinda processing this myself. So my head is all over the place. I'm kinda furious. There's a weird sense of betrayal. I feel sad for those that worked there and had to go through this shit. And I also feel bad for those that work there that had no involvement in stuff like this but will still have to deal with the backlash. Cos I have no doubt there's a whole bunch of folks at Blizzard that aren't sexually harassing and are just working their asses off, being passionate about making videogames.
But now, thanks to a bunch of nobs... they work at a company that's no different than Ubisoft.
But anyway - first and foremost: I fully understand if any of you have now chosen to boycott / take a break from any and all Activision / Blizz products. It's an understandable stance to take when you don't condone the actions of the company. Hell... It's a good form of protest to try and show said company that they need to take action quickly and another half-assed apology from J. Allen. Brack just ain't gonna cut it.
I'm also aware that possibly means you're not gonna be watching a lot of third party WoW content either. So... if I lose any of you. As a patron or as a subscriber or both. I get it. It's ok. And I won't be angry at you. I'll be angry at Blizzard. Cos it's their f*ckin fault.
At this point in time, I'm bloody conflicted on whether I even should keep making WoW content. I absolutely love making these videos. I know I don't want to stop. I still love the game and the story, etc. I just don't like the company very much. I almost feel vindicated in the fact that I've never bothered trying to network with Blizzard on a professional level. Imagine if I'd built up relationships with people like Alex Afrasiabi. Who would've been the type of person to talk to because he was the Senior Creative Director. I'd be absolutely fuming today and I imagine there are a number of other Creators that are now having to go into full-blown 'Damage Control' mode, through no fault of their own.
Right now, I'm in the fortunate position of having just finished a series. And I don't think anyone's gonna mind if the next one takes a little bit longer than usual to get started. So it gives me a bit of breathing room to get my head straight and figure out what I wanna do.
But that's another thing - It may be a couple of weeks before you see anything new from me so... if you're not really willing to pay for me to, in essence, go on a little hiatus... that's understandable too. Obviously I'll be sad to see you go... but I get it. No hard feelings.
Anywho - That's all I really wanted to say. Hopefully this doesn't seem like some corporate statement. This is me trying to be genuine but... it does sound a bit formal so... Willy Bum Poo Poo.
Cheers everybody. I'll probably post some random shit next week just for the sake of it so... see ya soon!
