PICS + WIPS + TIME LAPSE HERE
NOTICE: All the pictures in this link are of consenting adults performing in role play scenarios.
Literally role play, in this case, as the characters are D&D characters played by other consenting adult characters!
Scenes such as the ones portrayed herein should always be safe, sane and consensual. And fun for everyone involved!
The pics in this post have been moved, so the text doesn't make a whole lot of sense. :)

Lots and lots of sketches for this one - since I faffed about trying to figure out how to set the pic up!

It's set to a nice soundtrack of mostly soul music, and around 25 minutes, so skip watching tonights second episode of ... big bang theory(?!), and watch this instead ;)
It's not in 1080p and sped up quicker than before, too! I'm getting the hang of it haha

Here's a different take I tried. Didn't include the top row, since it was the same as the finished one. I came quite a long bit on this before I realized that I wanted the pic to focus more on Amy. This would be a nice-ish comic page (with an annoying perspective...), but I want these Failed Quest pics to be sort of a mix between comic and pin-up.
Saved this bottom row of pics and modified them a bit for the finished layout.

Heres the finished quick, blue sketch that I used as base. I redrew the 2nd panel a buuunch of times, as you can see in the time lapse.

Heres the very quick design I did of the witch crafter.
Since the general story here is quite similar to Jorcy's pic - our heroine, against her will, helps out a magic user with her experiments - I wanted this witch to be very different from the Panty Witch that Jorcy had to contend with.
So I made her a lot more dressed up, and "nerdy" looking, with an outfit that felt a bit more genuine medieval looking.
It was also a bit inspired by Magic Man from Adventure Time, though I didn't really remember how he looked except for his general color and that he had a hat.
I really like doing designs in that way, getting inspired by half-remembered things, and not checking how the thing actually looks. It can lead to some fun results!

The "red sketch" - the less messy sketch thats a good base for line art.
I realize half of it is still blue. Its because I had intended to do a red sketch over the blue bits, but instead I ended up refining the blue enough that I never switched colors.
The top row of comic  was out a lot easier to draw than the bottom...

The line art! I tried to do a compromise between quick lines and clean lines.
I'd like the style to feel a lot like the "results" and "prompt" pic of Jorcy & Co selecting their quests - but I feel since these are a bit more "imporant" pieces, I have to refine them a bit more. Amy's hair has that quick shading on it, since that's how I did it in the prompt pic.
Initially I'd drawn the word balloons into the line art, but as I messed around with the script dialogue a bunch, I ended up filling those balloons in. Gave me more options to move word balloons around. Kinda tried to not do TOO detailed stuff at places I knew I'd have word balloons, but I wanted the witches workshop to feel really messy and unkempt.
It's a lot of fun to do a lot of details with kinda quick lines - figuring out just how few lines you actually need for it too look "right".

Of course, I always get punished for doing lots of detail in the lineart when I have to do flat colors in the picture. When I do flats (the colors without shading and anything), I tend to tweak and hesitate and chance stuff a LOT. I know that I won't be happy with the results until a bunch of the details are in there, but still I often haaate the pic when I'm like half done with the flats. It's one of those things where your experience fights your instincts.
I ended up doing a bunch of textures and stuff in this because I liked the look, and I wanted a bit more of a grimy feeling.
To keep it cohesive with the Jorcy pic and the prompt pics, I picked colors from those for various parts of the picture. Coloring the first page of a comic always takes the longest since you have to figure out the color scheme and stuff. But once thats all decided you can just go with that look for the rest of the scene, and it's quicker. Unfortunately this comic changes scenes and locations a bunch between pages, sooo.... :D

Here it is with shadows and stuff, but no text!
I wanted the workshop to have the feel of a summer room with the curtains drawn. Not super dark, just kinda shadowy and hot.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to check this out! :) :)
