'TIS DONE

When Jon, Starlee and I recorded our last episode of 2016, the morning after the election, we were shocked and devastated. And sure enough, the cruelty and stupidity and nihilism of the Trump administration was as bad as we all feared. The last four years have been a fucking nightmare.

So on the last night of Trump's presidency, we would like to thank you folks for inspiring us and boosting our spirits over the course of this awful, extraordinary era. From the money you raised for voting rights via the Ban Wars, to your PredictIt-related questions, to your skyline inquiries, to your Missed Connections -- we were constantly LOLing and chatting with each other about your enthusiasm and creativity and sincerity. They sustained us. 

Politics can be a real drag, and caring about stuff can be exhausting and demoralizing. Our country has deep, tectonic problems that won't disappear tomorrow, and there will be dark days ahead. But it's important to take joy where you can find it. It's imperative to remember that activism and organizing can be really fun. And it's very, very appropriate to celebrate your wins. 

Well, we fucking won. Jon has a new car. Trump will leave the White House utterly disgraced and afraid of the reckoning that awaits him. Georgia will seat two Democratic senators. And later this year we'll be able to gather in bars and restaurants and the hottest nightclubs and celebrate our good fortune at surviving this national catastrophe -- while remembering those who weren't as lucky. 

And then we'll keep grinding on behalf of the world we want to live in.

So, once again, THANK YOU.
