Timelapse and Thoughts: "The Best Defense" + Sneak Peek (maybe???)

When I showed the previous sneak peak, I actually erased the buttons on Veronica's top, because I was worried some of you might guess the punchline 😅 Maaaybe I was just overthinking, but I don't know! Some of you little perverts are pretty clever lol but I knew somebody was gonna make a Batman joke as soon as I drew the pearls on Mona :P I kinda walked into that one!
"The Best Defense" was actually a comic I thought up awhile ago, but I couldn't settle on a nice punchline I liked (as is usually my problem). In the original version, the punchline ended with the mugger waking up in the hospital asking "...w-where am I?" and Veronica replies "In Hell. That'll be $26,000.", but I didn't like how the mugger was basically a down-on-his-luck guy, who was now in further debt thanks to the nurses. It's a bad feel! Veronica's too nice for that kind of stuff, and I just like happy/silly endings too much. I ended up shelving the comic until now, where I opted to make the button-slingshot the main punchline and just end it with a cute moment between Vero and Mona :) The orange-y effect on the background happened when I accidentally made the background layer TOO transparent, but it looked really nice, so I kept it! You can see in the timelapse how the background used to be solid, and then suddenly goes semi-transparent near the end lol I guess some of the best things in life happen by accident!

As for THIS sneak peek, this is (currently) the idea I'm working with. I'm still not 100% convinced whether or not I'm gonna go through with it because (as you've probably guessed) I've got mixed feelings about the punchline. If I can't work it out, then the next comic will probably end up being something completely different - I'll give it a good shot though, since I'm sure you're all eager for canonically-nude Mona lol

Life-wise, I'm gonna be doing some cat-sitting for my friend this weekend! Yay! Personally, I LOVE cats and I'll take any excuse I can to be around them, but it's hard for me to actually own pets anymore. I used to adopt old cats so I could give them some happy, comfy years of living in a loving home while they could still enjoy it, but it was always so incredibly painful when they eventually passed on. The last one was especially rough on me, so internally, I don't think my heart is ready to take on that kind of weight again. But ANYWAY AAAA sorry, I didn't mean for this to get so depressing! CAT-SITTING! YAY! I can't wait to cuddle up with those fuzzy little goobers 💚
