Hello,
First things first the collaborated project that "we" were working with Mortze has ended as I didn't receive any images or any information since I sent the script. It already wasted a lot of my time since February and I am done with that.
The other project that I've been working with Fritz is still on but It slowed down a little because of Fritz's long working hours at his day job. Also after some of the changes that have been made with the story, Fritz believes that Rpg maker would suit the project better so most probably it will be made with Rpg Maker.
While these things are happening like 2-3 weeks ago I decided to download Daz Studio and start learning it. Smart move, right?
And while I was playing with the default stuff that comes with it I also came up with a story. And I showed some significant progress with that story.
I am planning to place that piece into the Gates universe. It won't be the game that I was planning at first as the second part of Gates but it will have its place in the series. So this isn't the game that I have mentioned earlier "Gates The Insight". I don't know if anybody remembers that though. :p
I value that project a lot and I don't wish to rush it. I want to be fully equipped by any means before I start that.
I am planning to call this game "Alfaville" (cuz 80's rock). It's going to have a quite different setting and gameplay than the first game and the relation between them going to be "shallow" so you don't need to play GtO or like it to be able to play this one.
I will use Ren'Py for the game engine which will be another new thing for me to adapt along with Daz.
Right now I don't have a workstation to be able to get quick renders so I will do as much as my laptop allows me to do. And I don't wish this to push me to lower the image quality that I will produce so I will go with quality instead of quantity on this matter. I am quite experienced from my first project about working with limited resources so I believe that I can manage this too. And of course, if you favor the project at some point I can gear up. Most probably I will set a goal for this. Long story short things will start slow for me and I won't be able to "compete" with most of the other devs&projects on those matters but well when I fix those issues there won't be any competition anyway. So yeah. *drops the mic.*
*takes the mic back*
I have 6 main characters and one side character that I have set in my mind for the game but for the intro, I am planning to start with 3 main and one side character. The side character going to be more like the principal character from GtO that will add some humor in the game. But it will be a female this time. Wouldn't it be fun if you have a "Luke Hardaway" that you can flirt with? :(
I really wish you to be involved with the game progress because of the issues that I mentioned. I mean I don't want to waste my time and money (it's mostly your money actually) on features/gameplays/characters or story branches that the majority of the players would prefer to skip. So when I came up with an idea I will put it to a vote and we will decide together. But aside from the votings please feel free to tell me your idea.
So for the last 2-3 weeks, I have been working really hard in the preparation of a new project that's going to be 100% me which really excites me.
As I have a project of my own you can expect more frequent progress reports from now on. I don't wish to set a specific day on these reports like I can't say that I will inform you every Friday or Saturday. Because when I work full throttle I don't want anything to get between or if the opposite happens and if I have a slow week then I don't wish to send posts like "I had an existential crisis and couldn't do much or I throw a flying knee strike to my landlord after a discussion so I am looking for a new place etc." Yes, they are all part of life but still, they sound to me like "failure" or "excuse" so I prefer not to talk about them.
Hopefully, I will finish the writing of the intro soon and come here with some visuals ;)
Later,
Dede.
