P.E. was the scariest part. No, he wasn't about to run into Rex there. The captain of the wrestling team didn't go to P.E. with all the normies. But Dexter still had to change into gym clothes in the locker room. He hung back until everyone was pretty much gone and then slipped into his gym sweats as quickly as possible. That was easy enough. What was not easy was covering up the crinkle.
*CRINK* *CRINK* *CRINK* *CRINK*
Dexter cringed as he walked out to the blacktop. Were diapers always this loud?
"Hurry up, slowpoke! You're gonna get marked tardy!"
P.E. The one subject in which he didn't excel. Lucky for Dexter, it was a free-play day which meant he could spend the day walking the perimeter of the field along the fencing while the rest of the class played disorganized games of basketbal, or whatever they wanted. Eventually, the period would be over and that would be that.
"Dexter," came a distant voice. He looked over. Oh no. The coach was waving him over. He gulped. This couldn't be good. Dexter reluctantly made his way over the grass toward the coach.
"Hey, buddy. I, uh, heard about your situation..."
"My.. s-situation?" asked Dexter, his face growing hot. He couldn't possibly know about...
"Your diapers," said the coach, putting his hand up to whisper out the secret word.
Shit. He knew. Dexter tried to speak but the words felt stuck in his mouth. Suddenly he really really didn't like the feeling of being in that diaper.
"Don't worry, bud. You can use my office if you need to change. Uh... I mean, clothes. Or whatever you need, bud. Our secret." The coach gave him a wink, and sent Dexter off with a friendly pat that elicited a loud crinkle. Dexter had to run off and stick his face in his shirt to calm down. He just wanted to find a quiet place to curl up and process all of what had happened today. But gradually, alone, he was able to center himself.
"I'll just never wear again. That's what I'll do. As soon as I go home, they're all going in the garbage. That's what gonna happen. And I can forget all about this."
He repeated it to himself enough times to feel better, and then the period was over, and he was on to his next class.
"Uh, coach? C-can I use your office for a sec?"
"Sure, go right ahead bud. Nurse brought me some supplies to. You need help in there?"
"Uhmm... n-no, no... I'm just changing pants," Dexter said, turning red over the thought of being changed by his coach. But as much as that idea got his heart racing, it wasn't exactly how he would want to be seen by the guy, or indeed, anyone he thought was attractive. He thought I peed myself!
Just the idea that the coach thought he had wetting accidents was enough to douse any excitement he had with a healthy dose of shame. Dexter sighed. At least he had some privacy. And after today, he would never go to school padded again.
He told himself that, until final period, when he decided to skip academic decathlon and head toward the bus.
"Hey, buddy," said Rex, catching up to Dexter before he could make it to the bus. The moment Dexter heard the voice behind him, he mentally cursed himself for not being faster. He had to turn around and force a smile as he came face to chest with the bigger boy.
"Oh... h-hey Rex. How's it hangin... er.... goin?"
"What's up, Dweeb?" asked Rex, grabbing a hold of Dexter's but to feel the dry diaper through his pants. "Get a diaper change in class?"
"Shhh! Not so loud," said Dexter, looking around nervously. Rex released his grib on Dexter's poofy butt and put a reassuring hand on his shoulder.
"Ah, chill out, kid. Nobody's paying attention to a dorkus like you. I just wanted to remind you what you're telling your parents when you get home. You need them. And you're going to bring them to a sleepover. Got it?"
Dexter scratched his temple, looked down and cleared his throat.
"Got it?" repeated Rex, tugging at Dexter's waistband. "If not, I can make this decision very easy for you and send you back home without pants..."
"I got it, I got it," said Dexter. "I-I'll tell them..."
"You'd better, Dorkus. There are plenty of other ways to let them know, so take the chance to do it on your own terms."
Dexter nodded. Rex, seemingly satisfied, let go of the smaller guy and started walking off toward his car.
"Wait!" called Dexter.
"What?"
"W-when is it?"
"Tonight! When else?"
Dexter gulped. "T-tonight?"
"Yeah, I'll pick you up in a few hours, so enjoy your last hours of freedum, Dorkster.
"I hate that name..." muttered Dexter.
"What was that?" called Red.
"Nothing! Sounds great!" called Dexter, hopping onto the bus before he got himself onto any more trouble.
