Just my opinion here - take it for what you will. The trick is not sunscreen ( I haven't applied sunscreen in years), it is not to BURN. Everyone has to figure out how long it takes themselves to to turn a light pink, slight red or brown for darker skins (granted this varies throughout the year) and cut that in half - that is how much sun you need EVERY day to keep Vitamin D levels optimal. Vitamin D is involved in thousands of biological processes in the body. While supplementing is available and might be used further north of the equator - I find it just isn't as useful or as long lasting as the oh-so mighty sun.
